Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Microsoft Platform Governance Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT operations, particularly in data governance and eDiscovery. This role will be responsible for managing and optimizing our Microsoft Purview environment to ensure effective data governance, compliance, and eDiscovery processes. Additional responsibilities include management of the Microsoft Power Platform governance, security, and compliance policies.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Technical Ownership of Microsoft Purview Environment:
    • Architect and engineer M365 governance solutions for data management, classification and labeling, eDiscovery, and DLP
    • Ensure the effective operation of data governance and eDiscovery processes within the Purview environment, overseeing services delivered by managed service partners.
    • Maintain deep expertise in the Purview service offering and how it interacts with other Microsoft workload and integrates with outside repositories.
    • Monitor and optimize the performance of Purview services to meet organizational needs.
  1. eDiscovery Operations:
    • Manager back-end support of eDiscovery activities, including data collection, preservation, processing.
    • Collaborate with Legal and Compliance teams to ensure eDiscovery processes align with business requirements.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve escalated issues related to eDiscovery operations.
  1. Data Governance:
    • Coordinate and implement data definitions, catalogs, governance policies and procedures supporting BioMarin's global data management strategy.
    • Partner with business and IT teams to ensure data quality, integrity, and security across the organization.
    • Conduct audits and assessments to ensure compliance with data governance standards.
  1. Power Platform Governance
    • Define best practices governance, security, and compliance policies for the Power Platform environment to enable business-owned solutions in a risk-compliant environment.
    • Working with business and IT stakeholders, ensure that all applicable policies, processes, and procedures are properly communicated and followed.
  1. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with IT, Cybersecurity, Legal, Compliance, and business teams to understand and address their data governance and eDiscovery needs.
    • Provide training and support to end-users on Purview functionalities and best practices.
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment on data governance and eDiscovery initiatives.
  1. Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay updated with the latest developments in various Microsoft and related technologies.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
    • Lead projects to enhance the capabilities and efficiency of the Purview environment.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in IT operations, with a focus on data governance.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Purview and its components, including data governance frameworks, compliance, eDiscovery and best practices
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 technologies including Exchange, SharePoint, Teams
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Microsoft certifications related to Purview or data governance.
  • Experience in a legal or compliance environment.

The salary range for this position is: $140,000 to $192,500. BioMarin considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
