The Export Operations Manager plays a key role in optimizing operations, ensuring compliance with trade regulations, and managing logistics. This role involves coordinating with freight forwarders, international customers, suppliers, factories, clients, and sales reps to streamline shipment processes and maintain accurate export documentation. Responsibilities include overseeing the entire order process, from purchase order receipt to final customs clearance, while proactively identifying and resolving issues. This position also assists with direct container documentation. Strong knowledge of INCOTERMS, customs regulations, and international logistics, along with excellent problem solving and negotiation skills. The role reports to the Sales Director.

Duties & Responsibilities - Operations Manager

  • Responsible for all department efforts to convert an acknowledgement to an invoice through vigilant and daily expediting of un-shipped orders.
  • Manage and arrange training for office staff. Monitor timecards for staff.
  • Oversee departmental service coverage by cross-training and managing staff workloads, adjusting assigned tasks when necessary.
  • Identify disparate order information across multiple systems by actively searching for information that would cause unnecessary delays in the shipping process, including but not limited to, the following areas:

    • Order entry turn-around.
    • Credit releasing orders.
    • Production time frames
    • Appointment of freight agents by dealers
    • Container booking appointments, loading schedule.
    • Customs document preparation and submission.


  • Monitor information augmentation efforts by others and recommends adjustments to maximize shipment opportunities.
  • Monitor order entry and scheduling proficiency and recommends adjustments to maximize shipment opportunities.
  • Monitor shipping document preparation and recommends adjustments, when necessary, to maximize service levels and reduce charge-backs.
  • Monitor Open Order spreadsheets for House dealers with pertinent information like credit release, cubes, order changes, ship weeks.
  • Liaise with the Planning and Scheduling Specialist in Residential Casegoods and Upholstery on a weekly basis concerning all Export Direct Container orders.

    • Expedite the process of shipping direct containers.


      • Collect needed information from customers in relation to Asia shipments.
      • Prepare specialized documents for Asia containers.


    • Perform problem solving and process improvement in the department.
    • Back up department director on any sales related tasks, including market preparation.
    • Attend all spring and fall markets in High Point, and other markets as needed.
    • Enter Purchase Orders accurately and timely, as needed.
    • Provide quotes to dealers, other product information, as needed.
    • Participate in prospecting and sales activities, as needed.
    • Coordinate marketing updates and other company information to dealers monthly using Group Email lists, as instructed by Sales Director.
    • Send price lists and drop notices electronically when updated, as needed.
