Description

West Virginia University's Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design is seeking applications for a Temporary Research Assistant - Field Lead. This position will be the field leader under the direction of WV-Water Research Institute staff, Eliza Siefert and Melissa Shafer and School of Natural Resources and the Environment faculty Dr. Brent Murry.

What you'll do:

Projects include:



  • Water quality
  • Aquatic invertebrate
  • Fish sampling in acid mine drainage impacted streams to assess impacts and to assess restoration success.


Pay Grade: 15

Length of Assignment: 4 months

Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Natural Resources or related fields
  • Familiarity with aquatic ecosystems and basic stream sampling techniques
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Utilization of dichotomous keys,
  • Ability to lift 40lbs and hike in rough terrain under high heat summer conditions,
  • Knowledge of basic stream ecology and aquatic invertebrate and fish identification

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license
