We have an opportunity for a Supplier Quality Development Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for ensuring suppliers meet the company's quality standards and specifications. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance protocols to ensure supplier compliance and product quality, leading to complete customer satisfaction.

You will:

  • Develop and implement appropriate auditing procedures, tools and techniques that support the overall business objectives and effectively assess the core technologies and processes used in the manufacture of products or services provided to Pentair.
  • Assess prospective suppliers to determine the level of conformance to Pentair specifications in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Responsiveness.
  • Participate in the periodic rating and evaluation of the top suppliers with Supply Chain Representatives.
  • Assist in the Supplier Selection process with Supply Chain Representatives.
  • Track and improve key supply performance metrics, including Supplier Defects Per Million (DPM), and Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ).
  • Work closely with plant quality and assist in implementing supplier quality evaluation and control systems.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address supplier quality escalations and ensure issues are contained and corrective actions are implemented and validated.
  • Drive customer focus in the area(s) of responsibility by ensuring the voice of the customer (external and internal) is represented and actions are taken to achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Train suppliers to execute specific quality system processes, including 8D.
  • Manage and lead supplier improvement projects to enhance the performance of critical suppliers.
  • Analyze and report on the impact of supplier quality on plant operations and overall product quality, identifying key pain points and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive supplier quality database to track historical performance and predict future trends, ensuring proactive management of supplier-related quality issues.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Science, or related technical field, and/or 5 years of quality related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of problem-solving tools and methods, including statistics, with the ability to select and apply them for data-driven decisions to maintain high levels of product quality.
  • Experience in conducting supplier assessments & audits, resolving quality issues, and leading improvement projects.
  • Proficiency in using data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to present quality metrics and trends effectively.
  • Experience with digital quality management systems (QMS) and familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Excellent analytical, prioritization, delegation, and multitasking skills.
  • Effective management skills, including influencing, communication, change management, and stakeholder management.
  • Manufacturing environmental experience, including part and product validation.
  • Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Six Sigma, Lean techniques, and ISO9001 program requirements.
  • Knowledge of (GD&T) and Minitab experience.
  • Casting & Machining, Fabrication, Motor & Drives, and/or electronics experience a plus.
  • Preferred certifications include ASQ CQE/CQA, Six Sigma, IATF16949, ISO9001:2015.

Compensation:

For this full-time position working at this location, the anticipated annualized base pay range will be from $82300 - $152800 / year. At Pentair, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Pentair considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with a demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, work location, and other relevant business or organizational needs.

This position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as, annual incentive bonus.
