Orthopedic Tech - Per Diem - Torrey Pines

Description

This is a per diem/casual position generally working 8-hr day shifts on weekdays with possible overtime. Shift start times vary between 7am-8:30am. Training will ideally be full time for ~4 weeks. Located at Scripps Clinic Torrey Pines in La Jolla but may travel to other sites as needed.

What you'll do:



  • Performs and assists with patient assessments and technical skills to accurately assess the status of each patient, including procedures as appropriate.
  • Evaluates patients and documents patient interaction.
  • Practices infection control. Contributes to the team as necessary to ensure quality patient care.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:



  • General working knowledge of casting and splint application and removal.
  • Knowledge of universal precautions.
  • Knowledge of sterile field maintenance and instrucment sterility.
  • Technical competency in casting skills, suture removal as measured by OTC; basic wound dressing application.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good English language skills.
  • Ability to speak in person and on the telephone; read and follow instructions in English.
  • Patient concern and sensitivity.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.


Required Certification/Registration:



  • Current OTC certification required.
  • Current BLS required through the American Heart Association.


Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:



  • Prefer one or more years of experience in an orthopedic office or related ortho field.
  • Ortho tech experience.
  • Assisting in procedures.
  • Stile procedures.
