The Strategic Communications and Marketing department at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Marketing and Communications Specialist for Current Students.

About the Opportunity

The Marketing and Communications Specialist for Current Students will be responsible for coordinating and producing internal communications for current students that highlight the student experience at WVU and supports University-level messaging on a variety of platforms including UNews, the student announcements website, student vanity emails, and the WVU calendar.

The Marketing and Communications Specialist will report to the Director of Current Student Marketing and work in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Marketing for Student Life, members on the Strategic Communications teams, along with those outside the unit across the University's Current Student Marketing.

What you'll do:



  • Serves as Strategic Communications & Marketing's point of contact for internal student communications.
  • Receives news in a variety of formats from Student Life and other units across the University for consideration to distribute via internal platforms to students.
  • Compiles, edits, and develops UNews emails for students on a weekly basis for the Morgantown Campus.
  • Monitors, edits and updates announcements on the students website.
  • Notifies the Director of Current Student Marketing if there are announcements that need to be amplified.
  • Monitors students vanity email account and answers questions/concerns, directing students to staff, faculty, or others for assistance as appropriate.
  • Manages the WVU calendar on a day-to-day basis by organizing and promoting events.
  • Manages events submitted to the WVU calendar by proofreading and editing event descriptions, applying/updating event classifications, tagging events, approving them, etc.
  • Serves as Strategic Communications & Marketing's point of contact for calendar event approvers from other units across campus for coordination and questions.
  • Provides insights and recommendations based on data analysis to improve current student communications strategies.
  • Identifies trends and patterns in communications and announcements to inform future marketing and communications strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field
  • A minimum of one (1) year of related experience
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
