- Assist in the design, integration, and validation of mechanical and electrical components for IoT solutions deployed in industrial rail applications.
- Assist in designing rugged and weather-resistant enclosures, mounting hardware, and system interfaces meet all relevant standards (e.g., IP/NEMA ratings) and can withstand
- Design electrical wiring systems; select and configure power supplies, connectors, and other components to meet performance, safety, and cost requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams-including software, embedded systems, and industrial design-to ensure seamless hardware and software integration.
- Assist in prototyping, including low-volume fabrication and assembly to validate mechanical and electrical designs.
- Conduct testing to ensure product reliability under extreme temperature, vibration, and dust conditions, as well as compliance with relevant industry standards.
- Develop mechanical layouts using CAD tools, considering environmental protection, weather resistance, and ease of assembly and maintenance.
- Contribute to the creation of manufacturing plans, product rollout strategies, and assembly manuals to facilitate efficient production and maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and optimize mechanical and electrical subsystems, collaborating with suppliers and vendors as needed.
- Document solutions, maintain engineering best practices, and help refine internal processes for future product designs.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry best practices to continuously improve product reliability, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent education and hands-on experience in product design and prototyping.
- Proficiency using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and basic electrical design tools.
- Foundational knowledge of mechanical and electrical design principles, including materials selection, thermal management, and wiring schematics.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new engineering tools, methodologies, and standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on hardware for harsh or rugged environments (e.g., desert, high-altitude, or industrial conditions).
- Proficiency with version control systems for CAD or electrical design files.
- Familiarity with environmental testing procedures (e.g., thermal, vibration, dust) and relevant ASTM or MIL-STD standards.
- Experience with DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
- Understanding of basic embedded systems concepts or electronics prototyping.
- Exposure to Agile project management practices.
