The Principal Content Developer Specialist is responsible for the identification, evaluation, development and acquisition of new business opportunities and intellectual content for SAE Events. The position will also be responsible for shaping and refreshing the intellectual property and technical content for new and existing programs, products, and services that ensures continued value to the customer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop thorough, in-depth, fact-based business plans for new and current events, programs, and services for assigned technologies. This includes the development and acquisition of event/program content.
  • Developing and managing volunteer committees used to develop and acquire event content.
  • Serve as global market and technical experts (consultants) for assigned technologies and industries. This may require input or advice from volunteer network.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and/or partnerships with key global organizations, industry leaders, committees, and subject matter experts.
  • Benchmark, evaluate, and assess the product life cycles of the business unit portfolio for placement, improvements, sun setting, and new products or services. This includes conducting competitive analysis that leads towards product improvement and product placement recommendations.
  • Advise on content acquisition and event development strategy for assigned technology areas.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum six years of experience in event conference program development or business development within a relevant aerospace, defense, or automotive technology field. Experience must include developing and executing strategic program content initiatives, managing volunteer or expert committees, collaborating with global industry stakeholders, and leading multiple concurrent projects from concept through execution. Candidates should demonstrate a history of impactful contributions to event strategy, product lifecycle management, and event or program success, supported by strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Communications or related field
  • Excellent (verbal and written) communication, public speaking, and presentation skills
  • Strong business acumen and business development skills
  • Strong technical acumen
  • Strong computer skills (word processing, Internet research, spreadsheets, database use)
  • Strong market research skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and team building
  • Ability to develop and manage a global industry volunteer network
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and successfully meet deadlines
  • Six years' experience in assigned technology field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five years' business development experience
  • Event experience (participation via organizing, speaking, etc.)
  • International business development experience

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • The Principal Content Developer Specialist operates in a professional office environment with flexibility for remote work. The role requires frequent domestic and international travel (up to 35%) and may involve extended hours, evenings, and weekends, especially during major events. The position involves moderate physical activity during event setup and execution. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and managing multiple priorities. Proficiency with standard office and event management technology is required.
