Job Summary:

The Safety Manager - Transportation is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations. This role aims to promote a culture of safety and prevent accidents and injuries among drivers, fleet personnel, and other transportation staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain safety policies and training programs aligned with DOT, FMCSA, DHS, EPA and OSHA, and other regulatory standards.
Maintains all driver files in accordance with federal and state standards.
Prepare reports for regulatory agencies to include FMCSA, OSHA, and DHS
Manage and monitor drivers' Hours of Service in accordance with FMCSA standards.
Maintains records and reports for all accidents/incidents to include video from the onboard camera system.
Assist with the investigation of accidents/incidents to determine cause and implement corrective action.
Participate in the progressive disciplinary process for issues regarding performance, behavior, and policy violations as per CBA guidelines.
Assist with the recruitment, hiring and training of all new employees.
Assist with facilitating and conducting safety and security training classes for all employees, including supervisors and managers.
Manage all aspects of the FMCSA and FTA Drug and Alcohol Program and Drug and Alcohol Clearing House
Maintain security/emergency management plan and prepare reports for regulatory agencies.
Work with other departments, such as operations, human resources, and maintenance to address safety issues.
Perform other duties as assigned.


Preferred Skills

* Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Transportation Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

* 3+ years of safety management experience in transportation, logistics, or a related industry.

* Strong knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and applicable state transportation laws.

* Experience with safety auditing, accident investigation, and training delivery.

* Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

* Proficiency with standard office applications (word, excel, PowerPoint)

* Valid driver's license; CDL preferred but not required.
