Job Description

The Minerals Data Specialist I is responsible for working directly with the Specialty Asset Managers providing detailed research on asset discrepancies, generating monthly reports for annual review process, coordinates with ad valorem tax vendors and conjointly with Specialty Asset Managers to apply tax payments, and research of escheated funds. Works within multiple platforms, databases, and directly contacts operators/purchasers. This position is also responsible for Accounts Payable invoices submitted by Specialty Assets Manager and Mineral Operations Management. Ability to extrapolate data from SharePoint sites and utilize excel spreadsheets to generate reports. This position is further responsible for efficiently creating and maintaining custom reporting and overs/sight of account performance related to asset monitoring.

How You'll Spend Your Time
  • You will collaborate with Specialty Asset Managers and oil company personnel to analyze and resolve asset discrepancies using data from multiple platforms.
  • You will conduct audits and detailed research to identify and report inconsistencies in asset data in a timely manner.
  • You will prepare and upload monthly and annual review reports using TMMS, Excel, and audit tracking tools for compliance and accuracy.
  • You will manage departmental invoices and coordinate ad valorem tax payments, ensuring accuracy and timely processing through various systems.
  • You will research and recover escheated funds by working with institutions and Specialty Asset Managers to gather necessary documentation.
  • You will support business line managers with compliance reporting and audit responses in line with SAS 70 and OCC requirements.
Education & Experience Requirements

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through a Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of work experience in the oil and gas industry or 2-4 years of equivalent work related experience.

  • Intermediate knowledge of mineral royalties, working interest, overrides, well production units, division orders, mineral lease characteristics, and conservation commission regulations, report generation, and information gathering
  • Intermediate knowledge of mathematics
  • Intermediate analytical skills and attention to details
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a competent and professional manner.
  • Self-directed and self-motivated individual with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent PC skills including Word, Outlook, SharePoint, and Excel applications
