JOB SUMMARY The Senior Paralegal provides legal support and trademark portfolio management for the Office of the General Counsel. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides day-to-day management of the medical malpractice portfolio; works directly with outside counsel assigned to each case Provides legal support for attorneys through all phases of litigation and internal matters, including preparing, filing, and organizing legal documents, correspondences, and pleadings Manages of third-party subpoenas and litigation holds, including collection and preparation of responsive documents for attorney review Maintains attorneys' calendars and docket matters for follow-up, assists in scheduling meetings, depositions, and hearings Attends depositions and mediations for medical malpractices cases Reviews and proofreads documents, checks for proper formatting, spelling and grammatical errors, as well as ensuring that all attachments, exhibits and enclosures are complete prior to distribution Conducts initial contract review and runs contract reports Maintains and monitors trademark portfolio and coordinate with attorneys on action items Serves as the office liaison with Risk Management Performs other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of legal procedures and terminology (litigation and transactional) Knowledge of Netdocs (document management software) and Agiloft (contract management software) preferred Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel) Strong organizational skills Excellent typing skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision to meet deadlines and productivity standards Ability to pay close attention to detail, including under deadline constraints and changing work priorities Ability to communicate professionally, clearly, and concisely with members of the University community, outside counsel, and senior executive staff Ability to maintain confidentiality
