Position Title: Fabrication
Wage: $18.00/hour Shift: 1st Hours: 7:00am - 3:30pm Bring your craftsmanship to life in a role where precision meets creativity. We're looking for a skilled metal fabricator in Newton, IA with welding and sheet metal experience to help turn bold sign designs into stunning, high-quality custom pieces. From blueprint to final build, you'll be hands-on in a fast-paced shop where teamwork and attention to detail drive every project. Fabrication Responsibilities: - Fabricate custom signage components using sheet metal, aluminum, steel, and other materials - Perform MIG and Spool Gun welding for structural and aesthetic sign components - Read and interpret shop drawings, technical schematics, and blueprints - Operate fabrication equipment including shears, brakes, saws, grinders, and plasma cutters - Assemble sign structures, cabinets, and frames to precise tolerances - Collaborate with designers, project managers, and installers to ensure design intent and structural integrity - Perform quality checks and ensure projects meet specifications and safety standards - Maintain clean and organized workspaces and follow all shop safety procedures Requirements for Fabrication: - 2+ years of experience in fabrication, metalworking, or a related trade (preferred) - Proficiency in MIG and Spool Gun welding (certification a plus) - Ability to read and interpret technical drawings - Experience working with aluminum, steel, and other common sign materials - Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and fabrication machinery - Ability to read a tape measure grinnell@qpsemployment.com IND096 QPS Employment Group is a full-service staffing firm comprised of dedicated and passionate people with over 50 offices throughout the United States.
