Responsibilities

Working on the Defense critical technology areas offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment at the forefront of advancing national defense capabilities in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Directed Energy, Hypersonics, and more. As part of a collaborative team of technical experts, you will support the Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) Accelerator. Your role will involve close interaction with senior DoD leaders and stakeholders across the S&T community. You will have the opportunity to conduct independent technical assessments, provide expert analysis of emerging technologies, and contribute to decision-making processes impacting the Department's most critical modernization efforts. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to innovation, high level of professionalism, and an ability to operate effectively in a dynamic environment engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    As a Subject Matter Expert for the Accelerator, you will have the opportunity to do the following:
    • Support the office of the Program Manager (PM) for NC3 within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering.
    • Conduct outreach to the S&T community to accelerate technology development. Engage with U.S. Government, industry, academia, and international partners to enable technology development, partnering, and transition planning.
    • Prepare briefings, reports, and professional communication materials for senior-level Defense audiences, including congressional reports and technical presentations. Mentor teammates to support team development and ensure high-quality deliverables.
    • Support systems engineering and analysis of future architectures, including technical evaluation of proposed systems and capabilities. Support modeling and simulation analysis of future capabilities.
    • Conduct red-teaming of technologies and red-team threat analysis.


Qualifications

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and SAP access within the last 24 months.
  • PhD in a relevant STEM discipline and 20 years of applicable experience.
  • Experience with NC3 or related nuclear programs, DoD S&T policy, and nuclear S&T.
  • Demonstrated success with technology transitions involving DoD enterprise, industry, and other partners.
  • Ability to develop and defend program briefs, influence policy, and advocate for funding.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance.


Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $155,700.00/Yr. - USD $260,000.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
