Senior Database Administrator

Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to oversee and implement a range of database-related tasks and services. The contractor will coordinate changes to computer databases, manage security measures, and ensure the integrity and performance of various database systems.

Key responsibilities include:

• Database Coordination and Security: Manage and modify databases, ensuring data security and implementing appropriate access controls.
• Database Development Support: Assist with the development, implementation, and modification of databases like Microsoft Access, Oracle, and SQL.
• Database Testing & Troubleshooting: Test and validate database applications, troubleshoot issues, and resolve errors.
• Performance Monitoring: Optimize database performance and execute regular capacity planning to support growing data volumes.
• Backup & Recovery: Perform backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and minimal downtime.
• System Integration: Collaborate with IT teams to integrate databases with applications and monitor cross-system compatibility.
• Security & Compliance: Implement security measures to safeguard data and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
• User & Access Management: Design user access controls, manage permissions, and ensure appropriate data handling.
• Reporting & Data Analysis: Analyze database performance, generate reports, and support business intelligence initiatives.
• Documentation & Training: Document database configurations, troubleshoot procedures, and support end-users with training on database tools.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and at least 10 years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• Industry certifications to include CASP+CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH, and/or CCSP

The ideal candidate will possess experience in database management, security protocols, and development tools such as Python, SQL Server, and Microsoft VBA. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are essential, as well as the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

The employee frequently is required to talk and hear and occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
