Job Description:

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a SAP Senior Planning/Forecasting Specialist to join our Procurement Team based in Columbus, MS.

In this role, you will analyze inventory levels, lead times, and projected demand to determine the amount of products that will be required to attain customer support objectives (part availability - fill rate; on time delivery for internal requirements for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance requirements, etc.). You will also maintain the forecast/parameters and recommend/implement policies and procedures relative to demand planning and forecasting in SAP. In addition, you will be responsible for SAP support for the entire Procurement team.

The Procurement team's mission is to acquire indirect goods and services for Airbus commercial aircraft and helicopters, playing a major role in generating value and contributing to the overall competitiveness of the company. On the eastern border of Mississippi you'll find Columbus, home to our Helicopter manufacturing and assembly lines and Center of Excellence for the entire North America region. It's here that we produce the UH-72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army in addition to the H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers.

Your Challenges:

Stock Collection Reviews: 30%

  • Analyze assembly line-order books to capture materials that need to be added to stock collection by reviewing recent sales demand, stocking and ordering requirements/restrictions and impact to inventory. Make adjustments to stock collection directly in AHI forecast and planning tool.

SAP Support, Development and Improvement : 30%

  • Provide SAP system support to the Procurement department, including navigation and troubleshooting
  • Own SAP customer database maintenance and data integrity, troubleshooting with other departments as the need arises
  • Leverage business process knowledge and SAP experience to resolve issues and implement changes in the Production environment
  • Contribute to improvements in SAP functionality through design, development, reporting, and implementation
  • Use appropriate methodologies and tools for functionality testing and system integration support
  • Collaborate with internal groups to ensure SAP functionality and reporting needs are being met
  • Prepare specifications to initiate changes in SAP
  • Collaborate with IT via meetings and Jira ticketing
  • Perform job function testing for roles in the procurement department
  • Contribute insights and expertise to develop training materials focused on SAP functionality
  • Conduct training sessions/workshops to impart knowledge on system updates, new features, and standard methodologies
  • Work special projects as assigned by management
  • Complete required training to enhance skills and support personal development
  • Maintain documentation to ensure AS9100 compliance

Forecasting: 20%

  • Review sales demand trends to identify materials that are outpacing current forecasts and apply supplemental forecasts to compensate directly in the AHI forecast and planning tool.
  • Review updated shop forecasts to determine what materials need supplemental forecast adjustments and apply those adjustments directly in the AHI forecast and planning tool .
  • Manage forecasting and planning tool
  • Work with work prep and the program managers to adjust forecasting parameters as required and to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Test updates and changes as required

Material Planning: 10%

  • Responsible for planning of all AHI kit related materials. This includes internal shop kits as well as AHI STC kits. Review and validate planning recommendations and coordinate with Kit Administrator to open production orders as required.
  • Communicate requirements for kit related materials to internal backshops and Purchasing when applicable.
  • Expedite kit related materials from suppliers as required to meet customer requested delivery dates.
  • Analyze, plan, schedule, and initiate procurement for AHI inventory supporting Production and Post-Production work
  • Prepare and update all SAP settings to generate PRs via safety stock, MOQs, rounding rules, minimum lot sizes, material requirements, collection, and on demand.
  • Develop and maintain software tools to validate recommendations for material requisitions to be generated in SAP for purchase order processing
  • Maintain certain aspects of the company part master database that control the planning of materials. Perform and verify technical screening to maintain a computerized central reference system for the identification of spare materials that are alternate and/or interchangeable.

Reporting: 10%

  • Monitor and report planning/forecasting performance and associated KPIs to management.
  • Monitor sales order book to capture issues and work directly with requesting departments to make corrections.
  • Review master data in SAP relevant to material planning and forecasting and request updates as required.
  • Maintain continuous awareness of business and economic conditions, as they affect materials management, as a means of assuring minimum inventory investment to meet stated company goals and objectives.
  • Report assigned KPIs
  • Create slide decks for communication with senior management

Your Boarding Pass:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Material Management or Business Administration or equivalent experience
  • Seven (7) + years of specialized, directly related experience in areas of demand forecasting, customer demand management, material planning, inventory control, purchasing, production planning or scheduling, at least 5 years of which involve working with/in SAP
  • A strong knowledge of BOMs (bill of materials) for both production materials as well as services.
  • Ability to extract data from SAP and APS systems and analyze via Excel and/or Access tools in order to make decisions as to controlling parameters for planning and forecasting.
  • Microsoft Office or Google Suite
  • Basic material planning skills (MRP)
  • 10% Domestic and International travel
  • Authorized to work in the US

Preferred Education/Skills:

  • Aviation industry experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret AHI drawings
  • In-depth knowledge of the company's structure and how each department interacts and depends on each other. Strengths should include ability to analyze historical data and perform statistical analysis in order to make effective judgmental calls on future forecast demand.

  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving rarely
  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor daily
  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice rarely
  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces daily
  • PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
