Apply to the DISTRIBUTION DESIGN SUPERVISOR position now! Job Description Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO) has an immediate opening for a Distribution Design Supervisor. The primary functions of this position is to supervise distribution design activities associated with new and upgraded residential and commercial service requests, development of primary electric facility extensions, and main feeder and tap line distribution circuit system improvements. Ensures facility designs comply with applicable distribution design and construction standards, can be physically constructed in an efficient and cost-effective manner, and comply with tariff and other regulatory specifications, policies and procedures. Lastly, this position provides practical end-user expertise and supervision in the support, implementation, testing, business process development, audit support, and use of associated core system workflow applications including Enterprise Asset Management "Ellipse" (EAM), Graphic Work Design "Designer" (GWD), Customer Care and Billing (CC&B), and the Geographic Information System (GIS). This position requires a candidate skill set that is knowledgeable with electrical, construction, and civil site work related activities. The successful applicant will learn SMECO utility construction nomenclature, construction processes, and related utility software systems. Strong confident leadership skills are needed to successfully manage bargaining and management system designer personnel and be accountable for approving infrastructure design drawings and construction work packages. A positive attitude and drive initiative are essential. This position requires an Associate degree from an accredited engineering or business college or university, in a job description related discipline, with some business administration, computer, management services, power systems engineering, and technical writing courses preferred. Minimum ten years equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of Associates degree requirement. The candidate must have a minimum five years progressive experience in the engineering, construction, or operations department of an electric utility, engineering consulting firm, or homebuilding / commercial work environment. Proven supervisory experience is preferred. Familiarity with electric utility distribution facility design, planning, construction, operations and maintenance, related applications software, and administrative principles and practices is required. The starting salary range for this position is $93,200 - $120,700 based on demonstrated experience and knowledge. SMECO offers an excellent benefits program including a 401(k) 6% dollar for dollar match and an additional 3% non-elective company contribution.
