Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Control Panel Expert with specialized experience in electric heating systems. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of UL 508 (Industrial Control Panels), UL 347 (Medium-Voltage AC Contactors, Controllers, and Control Centers), and IEC 62447 (Electrical safety in low voltage distribution systems). This role involves the design, development, and validation of control panels that meet stringent safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, specify, and document control panel systems for electric heating applications, including SCRs, contactors, and power distribution components.
- Ensure control panel designs comply with UL 508A and UL 347 standards, as well as relevant portions of IEC 62447 for global applications.
- Select and specify components (relays, PLCs, VFDs, circuit protection, etc.) that meet electrical, thermal, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and compliance teams to ensure control systems meet safety and performance standards.
- Interpret and apply customer specifications and technical requirements to system design.
- Develop and maintain schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and technical documentation using CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
- Participate in UL file management and coordinate with UL inspectors and other regulatory bodies.
- Conduct risk assessments and support failure analysis and corrective action efforts.
- Provide technical support during panel fabrication, testing, and commissioning phases.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in control panel design for industrial or electric heating systems.
- In-depth knowledge of UL 508A, UL 347, and IEC 62447 standards, including documentation and inspection requirements.
- Proficiency in electrical CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar).
- Strong understanding of power distribution, overcurrent protection, and thermal management in electric heating systems.
- Experience working with SCR power controllers, contactors, and circuit protection devices in medium and low-voltage environments.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet/IP, etc.) and PLC integration.
Preferred Qualifications:
- UL 508A Panel Shop Certification experience.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70, and NFPA 79 standards.
- Experience with international panel standards and CE compliance.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience in a panel shop or field service environment.
Work Environment:
- Office and industrial settings.
- Occasional travel to manufacturing sites, customer facilities, or UL labs may be required.
