The Opportunity

As the Accounting Manager for the USPL Accounting and Financial Reporting team, you will have the exceptional opportunity to lead in a dynamic environment focused on regulated midstream natural gas pipelines. In this pivotal role, you will partner with key stakeholders across the organization to oversee the accumulation, recording, accuracy, and control of accounting transactions while providing expert guidance on complex accounting matters. This position within U.S. Pipelines Accounting will report to the Director of Accounting, where your team will primarily be responsible for matters related to general accounting, financial reporting, regulatory accounting, and special projects.

What you'll do

  • Team Leadership & Development: Foster professional growth among team members while maintaining high performance standards and accountability
  • Accounting Policies and Standards: Collaborate to establish and maintain accounting policies, standards, and processes in compliance with GAAP and accounting regulations.
  • Financial Controls: Ensure adequate financial accounting controls and integrity of financial records.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Review and ensure accuracy of FERC & GAAP filings, support rate case submissions, and handle regulatory issues.
  • Routine Accounting Responsibilities: Oversee quarterly and annual FERC preparation, quarterly filings, annual Form No. 2 and 2a preparation, and other regulatory filings as needed.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Participate in the TC Energy budgeting forecast process by providing key data.
  • Reconciliations: Review monthly reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of identified items.
  • Process Improvements: Identify and execute process improvements.
  • Special Projects: Participate in various job duties and special projects as directed.
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Develop and handle financial analysis and reporting, communicate with senior leadership regarding data and analysis.
  • Research and Recommendations: Research regulated accounting issues, formulate recommendations, and document conclusions for management review.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, CPA license and FERC reporting experience is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting rules, regulations, and policies, specifically FERC regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience with SAP accounting software, PowerPlan fixed asset software, and Workiva financial reporting tools
  • Exceptional analytical and decision-making capabilities with demonstrated ability to multi-task and collaborate with others.
