Primary Purpose of the Organization: |
The Department of Chemistry, Physics, and Materials Science provides students with a quality education through a basic liberal-arts foundation and prepares students with the ability to provide quality chemical/materials analysis through various analytical methods and instrumentations. The Department offers an
ACS-certified BS Chemistry degree with concentrations in General Chemistry and Materials Science, as well as concentrations in Biochemistry, Pre-Health, and Pre-Pharmacy. Chemistry Program serves as a solid foundation for the matriculation into graduate or professional schools. Additionally, the Department offers a BS Materials Science and Manufacturing degree, with concentrations in Materials Science and Computational Materials Science. The Department is equipped with many the-state-of-the-art analytical instruments such as electron microprobe, scanning electron microscope, atomic force microscope, x-ray diffractometer, UV-Vis, Raman, fluorescence,
FTIR,
NMR,
HPLC,
HPLC-MS/MS, GC, GC/MS/MS, CE etc. |
Primary Purpose of the Position: |
The primary purpose of the position include but not limited to: 1) teach courses per nine-month academic year based on interest, expertise, and departmental needs, though the teaching requirement may be adjusted to accommodate research projects; 2) conduct his/her own research and support materials research and education efforts at
FSU; 3) mentor undergraduate students in supervised research and training; 4) serve on departmental committees and college-level committees; 5) secure external grant funding to support his/her own research and the research needs of the department, university, and FSU's research partners; 6) participate in community outreach to support K-12
STEM education and other community, university, and professional service; 7) and initiate and help to initiate new research as well as partnership among faculty at
FSU and other schools in NC; Eligible candidates are required to have a strong interest and willingness to play a lead role in integrating web-based instructional resources into their teaching. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: |
- Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field. Strong preference will be given to applicants with a Ph.D. in Experimental Physical Chemistry.
- ABDs are encouraged to apply if they anticipate completing their degree before their start date.

- Prior teaching and research experience, especially in the area of experimental physical chemistry.
