Network Embedded Software Engineer
We are seeking a Network Embedded Software Engineer to help build the next-generation operating system for wireless broadband networks. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience writing low-level software to control network ASICs, developing embedded Linux systems, and working with routing protocols and real-time network performance metrics. This role is critical to enabling scalable, reliable, high-speed network connectivity across diverse environments.
Scope:
* Design, develop, and maintain network software applications for switch/routing ASICs such as Broadcom Trident, Marvell AlleyCat, or similar.
* Implement and maintain support for SAI/SONiC or similar platforms for embedded Linux-based systems.
* Monitor network performance and build tools to measure uptime, congestion, and availability.
* Troubleshoot and resolve issues in large-scale, distributed network deployments.
* Collaborate with systems engineers and network operators to deliver robust network solutions.
* Stay up to date on emerging network technologies and trends.
Required:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Networking, or a related field.
* 5+ years of experience developing network software applications in Linux-based operating systems.
* Proficiency in C, C++, or Go for development and Python for test automation.
* Deep understanding of routing protocols (e.g., STP, MPLS, OSPF) used in service-provider environments.
* Familiarity with data structures, algorithms, and embedded systems.
* Experience working in the networking, telecommunications, or ISP domains.
* Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
* Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
* Ability to work onsite in Sunnyvale at least 3 days per week.
Pluses:
* Experience working on control plane and/or data plane firmware for network switches or routers.
* Hands-on experience with vendor ASIC integration and network operating systems (e.g., SONiC, SAI).
* Familiarity with network programmability, configuration management, and routing policy definition.
* Knowledge of Software Defined Networking (SDN) architectures.
* Background in Linux kernel development or kernel-level networking modules.
* Solid understanding of network security protocols and protection mechanisms.
* Experience working in agile, dynamic environments such as R&D labs or startups.
* Enthusiastic about continuous learning and team collaboration, with a passion for new technologies.
