The Department of Pharmacology, at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in the laboratory of Dr. Kelsey Voss. The lab focuses on iron metabolism in immune cells and applies these concepts to autoimmune diseases, inflammation, and cancer. The focus of this lab position is to lead a research project centered on type 1 diabetes (T1D) with a focus on ferroptosis and iron metabolism. Additional projects may include analyses of patient samples and tissues with autoimmune diseases. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants must have PhD and/or MD (or equivalent) degree in hand by start date. Preferred applicants will have experience in immunology, metabolism, immunometabolism, and cell biology. Additional preferred qualifications include: experience in mouse models of disease, flow cytometry, single-cell RNA sequencing analysis, and image processing and analysis. Qualified individuals should have a demonstrated publication track record and are expected to lead their own projects, to collaborate on other projects, and to contribute to the writing of manuscripts and grants. Postdoctoral employment is normally limited to an individual who has been awarded a doctoral degree within the previous five years. This is a 12-month appointment with the possibility of renewal (for an additional two, one-year increments) contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment.
