Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking to hire a New Business Manager in our Philadelphia office. Reporting to the Senior New Business Manager, the New Business Manager is responsible for managing a team of New Business Analysts, ensuring that all new client and matter submissions are reviewed, processed, and approved in compliance with firm policies, risk management standards, and regulatory requirements. The Manager serves as the primary escalation point for complex intake issues, collaborates closely with other administrative departments and practice groups, and drives continuous improvements in intake procedures, training, and service delivery.

A hybrid in-office/remote working schedule is available for this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervises a team of New Business Analysts, including interviewing, hiring, onboarding, performance management, coaching, and addressing employee relations matters.

  • Reviews and assigns new business intake requests; ensures timely and accurate processing in accordance with firm policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Conducts final review of completed new business intake submissions to confirm compliance with firm protocols, risk management standards, and client/matter requirements.

  • Collaborates with other Client and Matter Administration leaders to identify, design, and implement training programs, professional development plans, and process enhancements that improve efficiency, accuracy, and service delivery.

  • Provides guidance and solutions for escalated matters from the New Business Analyst team, including issues involving conflicts, client engagement terms, or workflow bottlenecks.

  • Monitors and responds to internal and external inquiries received via shared mailboxes or intake systems in a timely and professional manner.

  • Participates in after-hours and weekend coverage as needed to support business continuity.

  • Assists with special projects, reporting, audits, or other duties as assigned in support of departmental goals.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

This job requires:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, and

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience, preferably leadership or management experience.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

To perform the job successfully, an individual must demonstrate the following knowledge skills and abilities:

  • Experience in New Business Intake/Conflicts in a law firm setting preferred.

  • Experience doing legal research and corporate family/affiliate research; or

  • Ability to research specific jurisdiction rules as they relate to conflicts of interest.

  • Strong functional knowledge of the Rules of Professional Responsibility.

  • Experience in conflicts identification and clearance at a large law firm.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and a keen focus on exceptional client service.

  • The ideal candidate is a proactive and detail-oriented leader with a strong understanding of law firm operations, exceptional communication skills, and a commitment to operational excellence.

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
