Operations Manager, Process Piping

General Job Description:

In collaboration with Construction Operations and Sales Leadership and under the direction of the Department Manager, this position will be primarily responsible for the oversite of the operations, strategic planning and personnel management of all field and fabrication activities within Process Piping for the assigned projects and/or areas.

Fabrication Leadership engaged in Process activities

Administrative staff engaged in Process documentation

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Lead and oversee all Process Piping fabrication and installation activities to ensure standards are met to achieve company goals.
  • Operations

    • Resource management
    • Proper staffing levels and team selection including assignment of Forepersons
    • Project execution strategies and scheduling
    • Implementation of client's requirements and processes
    • Weekly project progress, health and safety reports
    • Resolution of issues, challenges and obstacles
    • Execution of QA/QC protocols
    • Implementation of ACCO and Client safety protocols
    • Implementation of ACCO policies and procedures
    • Lead efforts in creating and maintaining a complete and comprehensive commissioning, qualification, and validation program as applicable to designing and constructing process systems in biotech, pharma, bio-pharm, laboratories, semiconductor, and validated/ cGMP HVAC facilities.
    • Lead efforts in the creation, application and maintenance of company-controlled Process Piping documents (IE; SOP's, WP's, MTR's, Test Procedures, Validation logs, etc).
    • Participate in the creation and maintenance of ACCO's Quality Control Program and associated documents for process piping.
    • Ensure ACCO's process programs and documentation are adaptable to industry change and customizable to individual client needs with emphasis on ease of use and increasing efficiency in application, design, and construction.
    • Establish and maintain a comprehensive documentation system for tracking every step of the process, from design to installation. Maintain accurate records that can be referenced for audits, compliance, and future projects.
    • Ensure proper staffing levels are maintained for all process activities to meet project deadlines and company goals.
    • Support Process Sales Department growth through knowledge transfer and sharing industry experience.
    • As requested, assists with labor budgeting and forecasting of projects and individual tasks.
    • Assist in sales pursuits by understanding each individual clients specific needs/requirements and demonstrating how your company's expertise can provide a competitive advantage in terms quality, reliability and performance.
    • Work with Sales and Construction Management in new geographical areas assisting in shop set up and field team selection for process activities.
    • Review project documents/specifications and provide recommendations to the Sales and Construction team that may positively impact the company's ability to acquire and execute a successful project.
    • Assist in the creation of any site specific execution plans.
    • Create and implement quality control procedures for the fabrication and installation of process piping systems.
    • Address any unforeseen challenges that arise during installation, such as unexpected site conditions or design modifications. Provide real-time solutions to ensure the projects stay on track.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations specific to our company's process piping sectors.
    • Analyze and refine the manufacturing processes for orbital welded stainless steel piping. Look for opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity.
    • Assist the purchasing team in sourcing of high-quality materials suitable for the specific industry requirements. Develop a streamlined process for material storage and management to ensure optimal efficiency.
    • Attend pre-bid & post-bid interviews
    • Participation in project kick-off, mid-job and wrap-up meetings
    • Other tasks and duties as assigned by the Regional Director and/or upper management

  • Strategic Planning

    • Understand and support the strategic plan and corporate vision
    • Ensure adoption and implementation of standard processes and procedures to achieve high level quality, productivity and efficiency across process shop and field operations
    • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with construction operations (ie: installations, materials, equipment/tooling, personnel)
    • Ensure safety measures are up-to-date and communicated effectively to all field personnel in an effort to mitigate risk and reduce liability

  • Personnel Management

    • Adhere to and promote company policies
    • Instill a culture of accountability, integrity, ethics, and respect within the department.
    • Recruit, promote and retain highly skilled personnel across all process shop and field operations within the assigned locations.
    • Mentor, train and develop top performing supervisors (succession planning) to meet current and future business needs and avoid any gaps in strong leadership.
    • Continually evaluate all personnel and make changes as needed to ensure performance is at the highest level and project goals are met.

  • Collaboration

    • Create and foster collaborative relationships among leadership teams across varying departments and locations
    • Foster effective communication between design/engineering teams, project management teams, and construction leadership. Bridge the gap between theoretical designs and practical implementation to ensure successful execution.
    • Participate in cross-functional initiatives and projects to meet company growth objectives
    • Work closely with Construction Operations Leadership, Project Managers and PE's on bid strategies and current projects regarding

      • Constructability
      • Resource availability including specialized equipment, tooling and materials
      • Labor budgets
      • Project execution opportunities
      • Potential project challenges

    • Collaborate with Regional Sales and Construction leadership and share experience to develop best practices, align processes, and leverage resources



Position Requirements:

  • Strong industry knowledge
  • Excellent leadership skills including honesty, integrity, patience, empathy, and a strong work ethic
  • Effective communicator at all levels of the business
  • Experience and deep understanding of the Process Industry (process piping, mechanical piping, plumbing, high purity materials, cleanliness levels and protocols) and fabrication practices.
  • 12+ years of experience in Construction leading projects
  • Experience with the various business and corporate software technologies ACCO currently utilizes

    • MS Office: Word, Excel, Project
    • Google Workspace: Docs, Gmail, Sheets, Forms
    • Others: Adobe, ProCore, Bluebeam, Box

  • Proficient in English.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting plans and specifications
  • Knowledge of:

    • local quality, occupational safety, and health regulations for construction job sites

  • Member/affiliate of local apprenticeship training programs
  • Degree or certification in construction management, engineering, or architecture
  • Experience in remote training software and technologies used within best-in-class organizations

Travel:

20 - 60% of the time to and from the primary office or site location to other regional offices, fabrication facilities and project sites engaged in process activities.

Competitive Wages:

$126,000.00 to $166,200.00 Annual Salary. Applicants please note that actual compensation is determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location, among others. The offered wage or salary is only one aspect of an employee's total compensation.
