Ensure personal actions and behaviours are aligned with the aim of achieving Zero Harm and clearly demonstrate safety leadership in support of Critical Risk Management. Liaise with Centre of Excellence to develop and deliver technology and innovation that enhances Copper Group value and mitigates significant threats. Improves workforce capability and develops talent to meet current and future needs. Ensures effective practices are implemented for managing and developing staff at all levels. Ensure the work of on-site & project teams is supported and being done to the appropriate standards. Collaborate with stakeholders throughout the value chain mine and processing operations and their technical support functions. Collaborate with the business to help them maximize value of our copper resources. Collaborates, maintains, improves and assists with other mine functions as required for geological sampling and drilling activities. Develop a network of discipline specialists throughout Rio Tinto, industry, academia and external research & development providers. Ensure an accurate and complete collection and synthesis of all geological information. Supervises, maintains and improves collection of grade/ quality control samples and geological mapping, and collation of these data into appropriate geological information management systems. Work closely with project and operations teams, to identify opportunities for improvement including risk management, efficiencies and productivity improvements. Provide support to asset technical teams in identifying opportunities to meet their targets. Regular review of operations reconciliation to ensure alignment with Rio Tinto Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve standard. Improve processing control by two-way reconciliation of performance. Maintains and improves the compilation, analysis and reporting of mine reconciliation reports and communication of findings to production and technical teams. Improve accuracy of long term and annual planning - validate assumptions in resource and reserve methodology. Supports the business unit Competent Persons in their work generating, stating and supporting public disclosure of Resources and Reserves. Supports grade control and geology reports to production and technical teams. Maintains and improves all aspects of resource infill and grade/ quality control drilling programs. Provides a deep level of technical input across geology and mining disciplines to support outputs. Assists with compliance to Rio Tinto standards for resources, reserves and reconciliation. Identifies, evaluates and resolves long term reconciliation issues. Benchmark and implement best practices in mine geology, production planning and reconciliation across copper group projects and operations. Validate / improve grade control practices - reduce dilution and ore loss. Contributes to strategic decision making based on understanding of the Copper group requirements. Telecommuting permitted up to 30% per week. Full time employment, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Geology or a related field and 10 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master's degree in Geology or a related field and 8 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience.
