Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Hospice Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, orienting, retaining and supervising Hospice volunteers to meet program needs in accordance with State and Federal Hospice conditions of participation and regulations.This position processes and makes assignments based on volunteer requests from Hospice TEAMembers. The Hospice Volunteer Coordinator maintains Hospice volunteer files and ongoing documentation needs. This TEAMember strives to uphold Tabitha's LIVE2Care culture and actively embraces Tabitha's Core Values. As a result, the TEAMember supports Tabitha goals related to dignity, respect, independence, competence, autonomy, personal comfort, safety and security of Seniors/clients/residents (hereinafter, "Seniors/clients"). In addition, the TEAMember contributes to the success of Tabitha through ongoing collaboration with, TEAMembers, management, volunteers, and others in the organization.

    Plans, coordinates, and implements the volunteer training program and the volunteer orientation process in an effective and efficient manner.
  1. Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Services in the design of volunteer training in accordance with Medicare/NHPCO standards and other applicable regulatory bodies.
  2. Evaluates each volunteer training session and utilizes data to improve future training.
  3. Utilizes a standardized format to screen Hospice volunteer candidates by application and interview all potential volunteer candidates in a thorough and professional manner.
  4. Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Services in the design of an organized, methodical, and effective selection process for Hospice volunteers.
  5. Establishes recruitment and retention methods to enhance and maintain the Hospice Volunteers program.
  6. Participates in outreach networking presentations to the community agencies, groups, and individuals.
  7. Coordinates and participates in training programs, continuing education, and support groups for volunteers.
  8. Continually assesses volunteer program processes and implements changes to facilitate growth and improvement.
  9. Maintains records and personnel files on all Hospice volunteers.
  10. Oversees timely collection, storage, and retrieval of volunteer data including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, progress notes, evaluations, and criminal background checks.
  11. Assures volunteer hours are maintained at a level that satisfies State, Federal, and Tabitha Hospice policies.
  12. Assures volunteers remain in compliance with State, Federal, and Tabitha Hospice policies.

Qualifications

COMMUNICATION: Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the English language as well as terminology and jargon specific to the job. Sufficient fluency to be able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, provide instructions to others, read and understand policies, procedures or other similar documentation, interact successfully with Seniors/clients/caregivers, hold a conversation, conduct or participate in meetings, compose professional e-mails or other written communication, prepare legible, accurate and thorough documentation as required by the job and effectively interact with TEAMembers, customers, vendors, volunteers, managers and family members. Ability to recognize and interpret non-verbal cues. Ability to respond calmly and clearly to emergencies and emotional situations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to gain access to the work area and then safely perform the duties of the job while utilizing standard and specialized equipment, including but not limited to the equipment described below. Ability to move about the work area. Must have unrestricted lift/push/pull ability and pass a 25 - pound physical exam demonstrating strength and agility prior to employment and from time to time thereafter at Tabitha's discretion.


AGE REQUIREMENT: At least age 18.


EDUCATION: Associates degree preferred.


EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years combined experience in marketing, program coordination, or staff scheduling and supervision.

CREDENTIALS: Valid Nebraska Driver's license (unless otherwise allowed by law) and a good driving record required. Must possess auto insurance at or above Nebraska statutory requirements. Must meet Tabitha's vaccination requirements
