POSITION SUMMARY: Provide direct medical services to patients of MHSI within the scope of specialty licensing, training, credentialing and privileging.
POSITION-SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Obtain health history and perform physical examination appropriate to each patient encounter.
  • Diagnose and direct counseling for each patient on a plan for treatment, which might include use of appropriate laboratory, medication, diagnostic or consultative services.
  • Responsible for the delivery of care, treatment, and appropriate referrals.
  • Prescribe medication in accordance with Wisconsin statute and professional practice guidelines.
  • Review, sign, date and arrange for any follow up of incoming reports for patients assigned to physician for continuity or as part of cross-coverage or supervisory responsibilities.
  • Prepare forms, letters, and examinations on behalf of patients for claims of disability, workmen's compensation, injuries and illnesses.
  • Document all patient encounters in appropriate paper or electronic chart as determined by organization.
  • Provide supervision to clinical staff within department and Advanced Practitioners as it relates to continuity of patient care.
  • Adheres to the highest standards of medical practice, ethics, and professionalism at all times.
  • Participate in specialty specific call and perform physician rounds and other inpatient care for clinic patients hospitalized at institutions with which the clinic has an agreement for hospitalization of its patients.
  • Participate in the development of clinic protocols, quality improvement procedures, implementation of best practices, and medication formulary.
  • Fulfill 40 hours of Continuing Education Credits within each twelve (12) month period to maintain and improve his/her professional skills.
  • Participate in peer review, quality assurance, provider meetings, and other clinical meetings.
  • Participate and cooperate in all reasonable efforts with the clinic to apply for and secure public or private grants, contracts, and donations, as well as for the purpose of obtaining all customary and desirable accreditations, licensing and permits.
  • Provide direction and leadership to the clinic's medical support staff, with regard to the patient's treatment and wellness plan.
  • Maintain confidentiality of clinic and patient business.
  • Perform other job related duties, as may be assigned.
  • Education and Qualifications: Successful completion of an accredited School of Medicine and Residency Program. Current Wisconsin State Medical License. Board Certification at time of hire or within 3 years if new graduate. Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) certificate.
  • Expertise:Excellent interpersonal skills and culturally compassionate care towards patients, staff and community. Able to develop teaching and counseling sessions, as needed. Must be able to adapt
