Position Overview

As the VP of R&D, you will shape and drive Cytek's technology roadmap, leading multidisciplinary, global teams through the full product development lifecycle-from blue-sky research to product launch. You'll be instrumental in developing high-impact, next-gen medical devices that serve a rapidly evolving global market.

What You'll Do 1. Strategic and Technical Leadership
  • Set the vision and execution plan for Cytek's R&D efforts, aligning innovation with business goals.

  • Champion excellence in engineering and research, keeping Cytek at the cutting edge of flow cytometry.

2. Innovation
  • Pioneer new scientific approaches and integrate emerging technologies (e.g., AI, bioinformatics) into product pipelines.

  • Accelerate Cytek's leadership in the research, translational, and clinical diagnostics space.

3. Full-Cycle Product Development
  • Oversee all phases-from concept and design to validation and launch-ensuring product excellence, timely delivery, and regulatory readiness.

4. External Partnerships
  • Forge strategic collaborations with academic, clinical, and industry partners to expand Cytek's innovation ecosystem.

5. Operational Execution
  • Lead cross-functional teams spanning hardware, systems, software, reagents, and data science.

  • Monitor KPIs, manage budgets, and deliver projects on time and within scope.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Align closely with Sales, Marketing, Quality, and Regulatory to ensure market-ready solutions.

  • Serve as the key conduit between R&D and executive leadership.

7. Team Building and Mentorship
  • Recruit, develop, and inspire high-performing R&D teams.

  • Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous learning.

8. Resource Management
  • Optimize team structures and resource allocation to support an agile, scalable R&D operation.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field (postdoctoral or advanced certifications preferred).

Experience:

  • 10+ years in research and product development; 5+ years in executive or senior leadership roles within life sciences or medical device industries.

  • Expertise in flow cytometry or fluorescence-based detection strongly preferred.

  • Proven success in managing global, multidisciplinary product development teams.

Technical Competence:

  • Deep knowledge of cell analysis, protein-based assays, and fluorescence microscopy.

  • Strong grasp of the full product development lifecycle, including hardware, software, and reagents.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements (FDA, ISO, etc.).

Leadership & Communication:

  • Exceptional strategic thinking, project management, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to articulate complex ideas to diverse technical and non-technical audiences.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing; must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

  • Willingness to travel frequently, including international destinations.
