Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking a Site / Civil Engineer to join our energy group in the Owings Mills, Maryland office. The selected candidate will become part of a growing team that practices total project consulting and provides complete, comprehensive services to a wide variety of clients.

This position requires engineering knowledge and the ability to provide site / civil design for water, sewer and storm drains, stormwater management, sediment and erosion control, maintenance of traffic, roadways, layout, grading and drainage, earthwork calculations, cost estimating, site details, ADA compliance, plans and profiles, exhibits and supporting engineering calculations. Zoning review, code research, written specifications, and obtaining agency permits is required. Project types may include energy infrastructure for fiber, electric transmission, electric distribution, substations, gas transmission, gas distribution, solar renewable energy, electric vehicle infrastructure, facility and campus improvements.

Dewberry offers a comprehensive and very competitive package of insurance programs to regular full-time employees and their eligible dependents the first of the month following their date of hire. The insurance package includes medical, dental, vision, and supplemental life. Additional insurances, at no cost to the employee: life (employee only), accidental death and dismemberment, business travel and accident, and short- and long-term disability are also provided. Employees pay a share of Dewberry's premium expenses (on a pre-tax basis) for medical and dental insurance plans.

Both vary based on level within the program and bonuses are dependent upon company and individual performance. Certain positions are also eligible to receive overtime pay, whereas all non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime (subject to approval).

In addition, a host of discounted purchase programs are available to all employees.



Responsibilities

    Prepare engineering plans, calculations, reports, details, and exhibits.
  • Perform quality control review of work product prepared.
  • Research project needs, such as regulatory approval processes for permitting and bonding.
  • Coordinate regulatory and permitting approval through outside agencies.
  • Work collaboratively and responsively with civil engineers, landscape architects, surveyors and other disciplines.
  • Coordinate with staff in other offices.


Required Skills & Required Experience

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering required or related degree.
  • Previous engineering experience.
  • EIT is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D is preferred.
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
  • Ability to exercise critical thinking beyond specific tasks to the entire project and the processes for delivering it successfully and efficiently.
  • Strong written, oral, and graphic communication skills required for effective interface with managers, colleagues and external agencies.

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $78,000 - $90,000 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly. These ranges are for NY only.
