Technical Service Representative

The Technical Service Representative (TSR) holds primary account responsibility and supports sales by providing expert product and technical guidance. They ensure PPG coatings outperform competitors through strong service, proactive quality support, and deep knowledge of PPG technologies including Pretreatment, Electrocoat, Powder, and Liquid coating. In this role, you will travel daily to customer sites around the Grand Rapids, MI area to service them. Total travel expected is 20-50%, including occasional overnight travel.

Key Responsibilities

• Provides sales support to maintain and expand business and assist with launches.

• Learn PPG technologies including Pretreatment, Electrocoating, Powder, and Liquid coating

• Service 10 or more customers in surrounding areas and provide all-around strong service and support related to paint quality and issues

• Manage inventory programs at customer locations of PPG product to increase inventory turns

• Identify customer's needs and assess activities that sales strategies can be implemented

• Primary contact person for all complains and questions. Liaison between customers and internal PPG support

• Maximize profit contribution by differentiation through technical problem solving to produce higher yield rates, lower reject rates, and optimum appearance on customer's production line

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED

• Pretreatment, Electrocoat, Powder, and Liquid coatings experience

• Application troubleshooting experience with two or more technologies

• Willingness to travel locally daily to service customers

• Must have valid US driver's license
