Why this job matters: Responsible for driving and implementing tailored strategic sourcing strategies and techniques to create cost savings, manage demand for external vendor resources, and to influence positive change in purchasing behavior at all levels of management throughout the organization. What you will do:
Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies to meet enterprise-wide objectives.
Execute the end-to-end strategic sourcing process for assigned commodities, which includes gathering data, conducting market research, benchmarking, and identifying potential vendors, and recommending the optimal procurement approach (RFI, RFP, reverse eAuction, etc.). Create and issue the procurement documents; facilitate the procurement approach. Analyze vendor responses, create vendor scorecards and facilitate discussions with business decision makers. Conduct vendor negotiations and contract signatures; implement vendor contracts.
Coordinate the negotiation and legal assessment of relevant vendor contract agreements, aid in assessing the performance of key vendors and developing vendor improvement plans to support the continued focus on delivering improved value.
Ensure the standard process for all RFx's and contract documentation are being followed by the business units.
Act as a liaison to the legal team in coordinating executive and vendor execution of legal contracts, statements of work, change orders, addendums, and other required legal documents.
Support management team on cross-functional project coordination and internal process compliance with corporate policies, particularly the purchasing policy.
Support the monitoring of the vendor management process compliance and the Strategic Vendor Management program.
Maintain relationships with potential and existing vendors, such as coordinating vendor presentations and conference calls, and obtain purchasing reports from diversity vendors.
Respond to questions from vendors, and internal business customers related to the request for information and/or proposal, and requisition process.
Participate in department initiatives and projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Three to five years experience in strategic sourcing and vendor management
Knowledge of key vendor performance metrics
Proven track record implementing complex supply chain deals
Ability to influence and lead strategic supply chain and business change
Ability to interpret and apply contract language
Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex data sets
Good business acumen and political savvy
Knowledge of business process improvement techniques and strategies

Location: BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence, conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules, based on role:
- In-office: onsite 5 days per week
- Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
