Minimum Qualifications
Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in administrative tasks and functions.
  • Have a general understanding of the mechanical trades.
  • One to three years of supervisory experience.


Position Summary
The Night Shift Mechanical Lead is responsible for administrative and supervisory work in directing the day-to-day operations of six employees on the night shift crew. This is a working Lead position for a crew that performs day-to-day operation and maintenance. This position will handle any personnel issues, evaluations or disciplinary issues of the night employees. Responsibilities to include coordinating, scheduling and executing the change out of the many systems during a time that will minimize disruption to building occupants and student instruction. This position provides an onsite presence for quick response to other emergency calls on campus and will minimize the severity of the situation until our on-call personnel arrives.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods, equipment, materials, and tools of the plumbing and electrical trades.
  • Communicates effectively (verbal & written).
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and with initiative to ensure tasks and projects are delivered on time.
  • Proficiency with Email, Microsoft Office Suite, AIM, Onesource, One USG Connect, etc.
  • Understanding of technical documents (engineering plans, specifications, drawings, & other technical documents).
  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities and resolve issues quickly.

Physical Demands

  • Lifting (up to 75 lbs) stooping, crawling, standing, walking, climbing stairs, work with hands above head, work from a standard and/or extended ladder and from scaffolding.
  • Work is performed in both buildings and outside and at time involves working while exposed to adverse weather conditions.
  • Driving as needed to perform job duties.

  • Day to day supervision of six O&M Night Shift employees.
  • Coordinating, scheduling and assigning task to team members.
  • Answers questions about procedures; inspects teams' performance of work tasks for timeliness, accuracy and safety.
  • Ensure administrative tasks (time, attendance, payroll) are done accurately.
  • Records work performed in AIM by team members.
  • Prepares work orders and plans for future work.
  • Checks to ensure appropriate materials and tools are available to support project work.

  • Assist employees in the repair and installation of LED lighting.
  • Troubleshoot problems with building electrical systems and related components.
  • Assist with replacement or repair of building DI water systems and associated equipment.
  • Respond and repair to building plumbing system calls and utility services (gas, water, and sewer).
