Assistant Superintendent

The Assistant Superintendent performs basic labor and/or carpentry duties in the field, while also assisting the on-site Superintendent. This role is intended to prepare the employee for a transition into a Superintendent role within Gilbane.

- Perform general on-site labor and/or carpentry duties as needed, which may include:
- Setup and clean up tasks, including removal of debris
- Direct traffic within construction site when necessary to ensure safety of work crew
- Assist with the loading and delivery of materials
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools
- Install items related to job site safety and functionality

- Assist on-site Superintendent with coordination of trade contractors
- Assist with monitoring work to maintain compliance for the work plan
- Support all safety efforts in the field, lead safety orientations
- Attend and participate in project meetings
- Establish credibility among Owners, trade contractors, unions etc. by maintaining a fair and trustworthy environment
- Participate in a rotation supporting local Project Safety Manager(s)

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- High school diploma or GED
- 2-5 years of construction experience
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- In-depth understanding of construction principles and procedures
- Ability to read construction drawings
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to communicate and report effectively
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Willingness to work in high-stress environment with extreme weather fluctuations
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Knowledge of Procore
- OSHA 30 hour certified
