The Energy Industries Division of ABB is looking for a motivated and creative Internal Communications Manager to join our international team. In this central role, you'll help bring our purpose to life, promote a culture of transparency and inclusion, and ensure our employees across the globe are connected, informed, and engaged. You will partner closely with the Global Division Marketing and Communications Manager, Division Group Leadership, and Business Area Internal Communications teams to design and deliver thoughtful communnications strategies that align with ABB's global priorities and business goals. You will also collaborate with internal stakeholders across regions and functions, helping leaders communicate effectively and authentically with their teams. Key Responsibilities *Guide Strategy & Culture: Develop and implement global internal communication and employee engagement strategies that reflect ABB's values and priorities, reinforce our culture, and connect employees to our vision and goals. *Manage Content & Channel Strategy: Own and manage a compelling content and channel strategy (intranet, newsletters, Viva Engage, etc.) that meets the needs of diverse employee groups and ensures clear, consistent messaging across functions and regions. *Inspire with Storytelling: Craft engaging narratives and messages that help employees under-stand the company's goals and how their work supports our vision. *Boost Employee Engagement: Design and deliver global engagement initiatives, including surveys, feedback loops, and quarterly employee calls, to encourage open dialogue and two-way communication. *Empower Leadership Communication: Collaborate with senior leaders to amplify key messages, support leadership visibility, and enable managers to communicate effectively within their teams. *Collaborate Globally: Work across Business Areas, Divisions, and regional teams to tailor messages while maintaining a cohesive global voice, ensuring alignment and cultural relevance. *Measure & Improve: Track effectiveness of communication efforts and provide insights to leadership through KPIs, engagement metrics, and reporting tools such as Power BI. *Lead & Support: Manage one direct report (shared between HR Communications and Division projects), and contribute to crisis communication planning when needed.
Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in internal communications in a B2B, technical/industrial, or engineering environment with a global scope.
- History of formulating and executing worldwide strategies and leading extensive engagement projects that result in tangible outcomes.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to tell stories and simplify complex topics.
- Being skilled in interpersonal and stakeholder management, with the ability to navigate across C-level leaders and diverse teams.
- Digital fluency with modern communication tools and platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Viva Engage, Power BI, intranet CMS).
- Flexible, curious, and motivated mindset - ready to experiment, take initiative, and accommodate fluctuating priorities and time zones.
