At St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, we are pioneering interdisciplinary approaches to accelerate biomedical and clinical discoveries. The Hillman Lab, within the new Department of Imaging Sciences develops new in-vivo imaging and microscopy technologies and applies them to investigate how the structure and function of complex tissues, particularly the brain, are affected by disease. We are seeking a Researcher - Imaging Sciences to contribute to the development of high-speed light-sheet microscopes for biomedical and clinical applications.
The Researcher - Imaging Sciences will contribute to the development, design, construction, documentation and use of light-sheet based high-speed microscopes. Prior knowledge of optics and optical design is strongly desired, including hands-on experience assembling and aligning optical systems. An interest in imaging, image analysis and biomedical applications will be a major advantage in developing and testing applications of the assembled systems. The researcher will be highly collaborative and able to work with local and inter-institutional collaborators to debug issues such as data and sample transfers. The researcher will be expected to maintain excellent communication, working with supervisors and collaborators to plan work, meet deadlines, keep careful records of all work, regularly report on progress to colleagues and collaborators, contribute to meetings, presentations, abstracts and publications related to the work performed. Additional responsibilities assisting with other imaging hardware, optical design and analysis projects are expected and could build towards independent research projects. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
