Position Description

The Negotiation Strategy team, part of Fee Strategy at PIMCO, empowers our Investment Professionals with the skills and resources necessary for effective external negotiations. We provide customized training, comprehensive resources, and live-case coaching to foster a clear and consistent global negotiation culture.

We are seeking a highly motivated professional to develop and enhance our negotiation training programs and resources for Investment Professionals globally. You will lead the creation and facilitation of training initiatives, initially shadowing the current Negotiation Strategist and undergoing formal training in negotiation techniques, transitioning to training responsibilities over the next 12 to 24 months.

This role also involves preparing various reports for senior leaders worldwide, requiring strong research and writing skills, as well as a solid understanding of negotiation principles. Close collaboration with the Fee Strategy team, client-facing teams, and global leaders is essential, necessitating professionalism, teamwork, and the ability to influence stakeholders. Additionally, you will manage the Competitor Negotiation Profile database, conducting interviews with Account Managers and analyzing competitor data to for accurate and timely reporting.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Training Development and Facilitation

    • Shadow the Negotiation Strategist to master negotiation techniques, persuasion, and emotional intelligence, and transition to training facilitation within 12-24 months.

    • Leverage asset management industry knowledge and writing skills to help develop new and enhance existing training materials and resources, ensuring they are current, culturally relevant, and tailored to channel clientele through internal and external research.

    • Proactively monitor all Fee Sentry requests to identify insights for developing engaging case studies, utilizing creative writing skills to produce relevant and up-to-date case activities.

    • Collaborate with the Negotiation Strategist to assess and identify training needs across regions, departments, and channels.

    • Assist in forecasting realistic timelines for program development and implementation, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and resource availability.

    • Contribute to the writing and launch of 'Negotiation Nuggets,' a series of routine publications that will be distributed globally to Investment Professionals.

    • Collaborate with Talent Development to align on educational milestones for Investment Professionals and formalize all training sessions within Workday Learning.

    • Coordinate with multiple departments on training logistics to ensure effective delivery of all training sessions with exceptional service.

  • Budget Management

    • Forecast, maintain, and balance the budget while addressing the needs of client-facing groups.

  • Data Insights and Management

    • Utilize advanced analytical skills to enhance the Investment Professional educational tracking system through report automation and analyze quarterly data to accurately forecast training needs.

    • Conduct weekly reviews of closed Fee Sentry requests to identify insights related to negotiation.

    • Contribute to the creation of quarterly and annual negotiation reports for EMEA and APAC heads, including fee data analysis and qualitative summaries that require expert-level negotiation knowledge and extensive fee expertise.

    • Interview new hires, leveraging negotiation and asset management industry knowledge to ask pertinent questions and gather key data points beneficial to both Account Managers in their future negotiations and Fee Policy Group leaders regarding competitor insights.

    • Collaborate closely with the Technology team to enhance the internal Competitor Negotiation Profile database, necessitating an understanding of various internal applications, including the Fee Sentry system.

    • Lead the enhancement and maintenance of the Negotiation Strategy Pulse site, continuously seeking ways to make it more valuable for Investment Professionals.

    • Ensure meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of data management, recognizing the significance of these reports for executive and regional leaders.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years in the investment management or financial services industry, with at least 2 years of client-facing or account management experience. Familiarity with PIMCO products and/or negotiation experience is a plus.

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in business, sales, economics, or finance.

  • Proven experience in large-scale public speaking with strong presentation skills.

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (including formula knowledge), Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint; familiarity with Python is a plus.

  • In-depth knowledge of PIMCO applications, including CM Portal and Perform, with a comprehensive understanding of information architecture and data accessibility within PIMCO systems is desirable.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations, identify trends, and address needs effectively.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey ideas clearly.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.

  • Meticulous attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

PIMCO follows a total compensation approach when rewarding employees which includes a base salary and a discretionary bonus. Base salary is the fixed component of compensation that is determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors. The discretionary bonus is used to award performance and therefore is determined by company, business, team, and individual performance.
Salary Range: $ 90,000.00 - $ 97,500.00
