The VP Finance, Commercial Risk & Human Capital at Aon will play a pivotal role in driving financial decision support and strategic insights for the Commercial Risk and Human Capital business leaders. This position requires credible strategic and analytic ability to lead financial performance analysis, strategic portfolio financial analysis, and investment optimization, ensuring Aon's continued success in a competitive market.

What the day will look like
  • Decision Support and Leadership for the Solution Line leads in Commercial Risk and Human Capital as well as the Global Regions leader
  • Lead the strategic plan on opportunities with the highest growth opportunities and the solution line investments need to bring together the opportunities
  • Provide input into the operating plan / strategic planning from a solution line perspective, to achieve financial objectives that lead to top tier market performance
  • Lead all aspects of the budget for product development and investments
  • Analyze market trends by sub-products within each solution line (i.e. pricing, limit in financial lines) and support strategies to respond to hard and soft markets
  • Establish the leading and lagging critical metrics to predict and measure product success
  • Cross functional collaboration with the Regional CFOs and distribution teams
  • Improve the analytics
  • Product profitability - pricing, soft market items (talent products, wealth products)
  • Client segment profitability
  • Product Investment optimization
  • Responsible for financial performance analysis of monthly results and forecast across respective solution lines
  • Strategic portfolio financial analysis including:
  • Product Profitability
  • ROI / ROIC
  • Competitive analysis around profitability
  • Strategic assessment and insight around M&A
  • Partner with the Business, ABS, and Finance to drive the right data architecture and capabilities to enable a step change in the strategic financial analysis described above
Skills and experience that will lead to success

Key Skills

  • Top-tier strategic and analytic ability
  • Executive presence and credibility
  • Ability to build CEO and Board ready materials with minimal direct supervision
  • Strategic agility and a proactive ability to garner a deep understanding of the content to "connect dots" across functions and workstreams
  • Ability to take an unstructured problem and break into its component pieces
  • Experience in segment strategic analysis at a business unit and corporate level
  • Strong background in financial modeling and theory including but not limited to: DCF valuations, capital structure and capital markets analysis, multiples analysis, ROIC analysis
  • Solid understanding of accounting, cash management, and tax
  • Business insight through business experience or close partnership with business divisions
  • General project management skills - project plans, risk assessment, etc.
  • Attention to detail and execution mentality
Experience/Education/Training
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in finance, with a focus on financial planning and analysis, business case development, and decision support.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis tools.
  • Ability to lead a team and achieve world-class employee engagement results
  • Experience in a sophisticated matrix organization

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $225,000 to $275,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in Aon's annual incentive plans in addition to base salary. The amount of any incentives varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
