DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will conduct thorough research of courthouse records to identify ownership types, easements, and other recorded covenants, while also interpreting and comprehending deed descriptions. You will assess the property in question and engage with the owner to gather essential information that will ensure the appraisal accurately reflects all relevant aspects, including fair market value, depreciation, existing liens, judgments against the property, as well as rights related to gas and minerals, and any damages incurred. Your responsibilities will include determining the most suitable methodologies for valuing the affected properties, utilizing market, cost, and income data as necessary. You will also measure, photograph, and catalog properties, documenting all enhancements made, particularly those undertaken by the owner since the initial acquisition. Additionally, you will gather supplementary information to support and validate completed appraisal reports, conduct supplemental housing evaluations, and establish retention valuations. Your role may require you to attend and provide testimony at Board of View Hearings or Court Trials concerning the appraisal and damage estimates. You will supply claim settlement agents with pertinent information regarding the property and associated damages to facilitate the resolution of issues related to final appraisals or supplemental payments. Furthermore, you will assist the Chief Appraiser in preparing damage estimates, managing appraisal contracts, and analyzing appraisal-related challenges, while also entering data into the right-of-way office and other relevant computer systems. You will offer technical and functional support to fellow project team members in the appraisal preparation process and collaborate with District review appraisers to ensure compliance with state and federal policies, procedures, and requirements. Lastly, you will ensure that appraisals are completed in a timely manner, prioritizing projects to meet specified deadlines.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $ 58,035.00
    (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Special Requirements:

  • This position requires the possession of an active Pennsylvania Certified General Real Estate Appraiser certification.
  • This position requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
