The Physical Security Manager is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and oversight of the Credit Union's physical security Program. This role ensures the protection of employees, members, facilities, and assets through effective security prevention strategies, systems, and operations. The manager leads the Physical Security and IIIR (Intelligence, Investigation, and Incident Response) teams, oversees security technology and vendor partnerships, and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This position collaborates closely with internal departments, law enforcement, and emergency services to support preparedness, business continuity, and a safe operating environment. Work Arrangement: This position is able to work onsite at our East Lansing Headquarters with occasional days at Auburn Hills Regional Office. Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm An offer of employment with MSU Federal Credit Union and affiliates is contingent upon the agreed work arrangement (onsite/hybrid/remote) and work location. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Physical Security Manager I:
- Lead the strategic planning, growth, and day-to-day operations of the Physical Security Program, ensuring continuous evaluation, development, and alignment with organizational needs.
- Manage and develop the Physical Security Operations Center (PSOC) and Intelligence, Investigation, and Incident Response (IIIR) teams, providing direction on prevention, investigations, emergency response, and incident resolution.
- Maintain and participate in 24/7/365 emergency response readiness program, overseeing building security systems and physical access controls.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal physical security standards by developing, testing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Lead the selection, implementation, and maintenance of physical security technology software and hardware, including alarm monitoring, controls, and surveillance systems.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and procurement for security operations, equipment, and infrastructure, utilizing industry best practices and data-driven decision-making.
- Provide timely communication to executive leadership on security threats, program status, investigations, and risk mitigation efforts.
- Partner with internal stakeholders, Risk Management, and external agencies to ensure effective coordination, risk assessments, audit response, and adherence to public safety regulations.
- Support physical security aspects of construction and system design, ensuring consistent, layered, and scalable safeguards across the enterprise.
- Foster employee development through coaching, performance management, vendor oversight, and continuous learning to support operational excellence and talent growth.
- Foster and promote a culture of risk awareness and accountability. Understand the Credit Union's policies and procedures to ensure compliance and accountability for managing operational risks. Adhere to established internal controls and procedures to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and maintain the integrity of credit union operations.

Senior Physical Security Manager:
- Leads the continuous advancement of enterprise-wide physical security strategy, maturing incident response capabilities and physical security controls to proactively mitigate threats and ensure business continuity.
- Provides strategic consultation to executive leadership and influences security policy, design, and emergency response across the organization. Maintains awareness and understanding of current and potential threat environment in the financial Industry and offers solutions to mitigate risk.
- Leads the Intelligence, Investigation, and Incident Response (IIIR) Team, overseeing threat assessment exercises, internal investigations, and emergency response and regularly develops updates and exercises emergency response plans.
- Directs the development of security procedures, standards, and service level agreements, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, operational goals, and industry best practices.
- Partners with Risk Management and IT Security to strengthen the Credit Union's Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans, ensuring operational resilience during disruptive events.
- Champions security awareness by delivering impactful training, education, and communications to promote a culture of preparedness and vigilance across the enterprise.
- Establishes and maintains performance metrics, dashboards, and investigative tracking systems to measure the effectiveness of physical security programs and inform continuous improvement.
- Leads high-level investigations into regulatory, policy, or procedural violations, providing thorough documentation and reporting for executive, legal, and audit stakeholders.
Job Requirements: Physical Security Manager I:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Security Sciences, or related fields - OR seven (7) years of experience in emergency management, security systems administration, corporate/financial security, or relevant military and/or first responder experience with a High School diploma or equivalent
- Prior management or authorized team leadership experience is required - OR completion of one of the Credit Union's leadership programs.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; or ability to obtain
- One ore more relevant certifications is preferred (e.g. Physical Security Professional (PSP), Certified Security Project Manager (CSPM))
Senior Physical Security Manager:
- All Level I requirements
- One or more relevant certifications is required (e.g. Physical Security Professional (PSP), Certified Security Project Manager (CSPM))
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- May be required to remain in a stationary position for an extended period.
- Ability to operate standard office technology, equipment, and tools, which may include many hours of computer and phone usage.
- Frequently needs to move about inside or outside of an office area.
- Exposure to potentially hazardous condition, i.e. robbery. Receives detailed instructions and procedures to be followed to minimize the exposure.
- Frequently moves equipment or materials weighing up to 25 pounds for transport between areas of buildings.
- This position requires onsite presence at the employee's assigned location for all scheduled shifts.
