POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Provider Analytics, the Product Owner II plays a pivotal role in aligning strategic vision with tactical execution for one or more product development teams. This position involves working closely with product management leadership to define and prioritize work that meets strategic objectives and user needs. As a trusted expert in understanding these needs, the Product Owner II synthesizes stakeholder inputs into actionable problem statements and solutions, ensuring that the team's efforts are aligned with the broader business goals.

A critical aspect of this role is managing a robust, prioritized backlog that reflects strategic business objectives and maximizes value delivery. This involves continuously assessing and refining backlog items based on customer insights, feedback, and evolving market conditions. The Product Owner II also plays a crucial part in coordinating work across multiple teams, ensuring that changes in one area do not negatively impact other teams or product features. Their deep knowledge of the solution space enables them to facilitate effective cross-functional collaboration and mitigate risks effectively.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work Prioritization and Strategic Alignment:

  • Collaborate closely with product management leadership to define and prioritize work for product development and enhancement, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. Act as a trusted expert in user needs and requirements, synthesizing stakeholder inputs into actionable problem statements and solutions.

Agile Leadership and Execution:

  • Lead team(s) through Agile ceremonies, including Sprint Planning and Program Increment Planning, ensuring work is well-groomed with crystal clear Acceptance Criteria. Collaborate with Scrum Masters to ensure teams follow Agile best practices, optimize performance, and maintain a focus on delivering quality results on time.

Backlog Management and Business Value Delivery:

  • Develop and maintain a prioritized backlog that reflects strategic business objectives and maximizes value delivery. Continuously assess and refine backlog items based on customer insights, feedback, and evolving market conditions.

Cross-Functional Coordination and Risk Mitigation:

  • Proactively coordinate work across multiple teams, ensuring that changes in one area do not negatively impact other teams or product features. Leverage deep knowledge of the solution space to facilitate effective cross-functional collaboration and risk mitigation.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

  • Advocate for and lead continuous improvement initiatives within teams and across the program, enhancing how products are defined, built, and released. Foster a culture of innovation, efficiency, and excellence within the team(s).

Stakeholder Collaboration and Product Strategy:

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to gather requirements, devise solutions, and prioritize efforts with minimal supervision from upper management. Assist in defining higher-level product roadmaps and strategies, providing valuable input based on product and user knowledge.

Customer Engagement and Market Analysis:

  • Engage with customers frequently to understand their requirements and challenges, leading user feedback sessions and demonstrating new functionality. Conduct regular competitor analysis to understand market positioning and inform strategic product decisions.

Product Evangelism and Leadership:

  • Serve as a product evangelist and leader within the team(s) and across the program, promoting the product's value and capabilities internally and externally. Lead presentations and demonstrations to stakeholders, building enthusiasm and support for the product.

Communication, Relationship Building, and Team Influence:

  • Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, influencing cross-functional teams without formal authority. Build strong relationships across development, user experience, customer success, and support teams to ensure collaborative success.

Problem Solving and Decision Making:

  • Utilize strong problem-solving skills to address challenges, facilitate project planning, and perform systems analysis. Make informed decisions that align with organizational goals and enhance product outcomes.

Additional Duties:

  • Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to team and organizational goals as needed.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, marketing, or a related field.

  • Minimum of five (5) or more years of experience as a Jr. Product Owner, Sr. Business Analyst, Subject Matter Expert (Consultant), with proven experience working with product development teams.

  • Scaled Agile/SAFe certification a plus.

  • Experience with tools such as Azure DevOps (ADO), Miro, Figma, and the Microsoft 365 suite preferred.

MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization (directors, managers, data engineers, quality assurance analysts, end users, etc.)

  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.

  • Ability to self-learn and seek out knowledge to improve overall understanding of team technology solutions.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong problem solving, project planning, systems analysis, teamwork, and organizational skills.

  • Confident group presentation skills.

  • Excellent discovery and active listening skills.

  • Strong organizational skills; attention to detail.

  • Ability to plan and manage multiple activities in a diverse and evolving environment.

  • Technical understanding of analytics-based products and workflow/processes.

  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.

  • Proficient in writing and documenting requirements clearly and efficiently.

*This Salary Range reflects a National Average for this job. The actual range may vary based on your locale. Ranges in Colorado/California/Washington/New York/Hawaii/Vermont/Minnesota/Massachusetts/Illinois State-specific locations may be up to 10% lower than the minimum salary range, and 12% higher than the maximum salary range.
