Established in 1940, the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health envisions a future where the people of Texas thrive in communities that support mental health, resilience, and well-being. The foundation uses various approaches, including access to the Texas Grants Resource Center (TGRC), grantmaking, convening, research, and public policy, to transform how communities promote mental health.

The Foundation Initiatives Team (FIT) comprises two components: TGRC and Hogg Programs. TGRC, initiated by Dr. Robert L. Sutherland in 1962, provides critical information and facilitates communication between tax-exempt entities and grantmakers. Purpose

The Hogg Foundation for Mental Health is seeking a Program Associate to join the Foundation Initiatives Team. This position reports to both the Director of Foundation Initiatives and the TGRC Administrator. The role involves supporting both the TGRC and the Foundation Programs Team. The Hogg Foundation for Mental Health is seeking a Program Associate to provide essential support to the Foundation Initiatives Teams which includes the Texas Grant Resources Center (TGRC) and the Foundation Programs Team. This dual role position, reporting to the Director of Foundation Initiatives and the TRGC Administrator, will be responsible for:

  • Facilitating community access to grant opportunities through the TGRC by utilizing the Candid database and other resources.
  • Supporting the Foundation Programs Team in the development, management, and monitoring of funding initiatives and stakeholder relationships.

Job Responsibilities

TGRC

  • Assist community members in using the Candid Foundation Directory Database to research foundations and grant opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in the Candid Foundation Directory Database.
  • Manage scheduling and respond to inquiries about the TGRC.
  • Handle virtual appointment requests for database searches.
  • Assist with annual survey data to inform future programming.

Program Team

  • Collaborate on planning and activities for foundation-funded mental health programs, projects, and initiatives.
  • Create timelines, track deliverables, and monitor project progress and outcomes.
  • Participate in reviewing grant proposals and selecting new grant partners.
  • Occasionally draft written products on mental health and wellness topics.
  • Organize and support program-related meetings and events.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of database management and a desire to help others access information.
  • Prior experience in roles that require direct interaction with the public, stakeholders, or customer service roles.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues, individuals with mental health lived experience, advocates, and other stakeholders.
  • Minimum 2-3 years in a role managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve, develop solutions and think strategically about improving processes and outcomes.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills including the ability to clearly convey complex information to multiple audiences.
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally within Texas.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and willingness to learn new software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher education degree.
  • Multilingual.
  • Demonstrated interest in mental health, wellness, and/or nonprofit resource development.

Salary Range

$50,000+ depending on qualifications
