Job Summary
Accountable for the daily management of equipment, materials, and instruments for assigned specialty team or area within the department. Coordinates equipment, materials, and instruments for procedures and other patient care needs, assuring presence, location and availability. Educates users on equipment and material function and processing. Acts as a contributor to the Value Analysis Committee, as needed. Collaborates with other members of the health care team to ensure continuity and coordination of services. Collaborates with experts or acts as a resource for specialized equipment or materials in area. Tracks purchase orders for receipt and follow up, as needed.
Essential Functions
  • Assures all equipment, materials, and instruments are ready for patient care and is responsible for establishing and maintaining their locations within the department.
  • Coordinates with Sterile Processing department, Supply Chain Management, Biomedical Electronics, and vendors on the processing of equipment, materials, and instruments. Coordinates preventative maintenance program for equipment and routine infrastructure repair, as needed.
  • Assists with and coordinates training and education of colleagues in the use and processing of equipment, materials and instruments. Acts as a superuser for specialized equipment and materials in area and provides education to other staff as needed, in applicable areas. Able to support users and troubleshoot specialized equipment, as needed.
  • Aggressively seeks and recommends cost savings possibilities based upon new sources, substitutions, improved systems, or new technology. Assures all billing information is accurate for each case.
  • Coordinates the ordering/purchasing of approved specialty/non-stock items for the department, in collaboration with team members. Maintains knowledge of current and prospective products, organizing trials, collecting and analyzing evaluations, making recommendations for change in equipment purchases to specialty teams.
  • Works collaboratively with others to identify opportunities for standardization of products in the department and across the organization. Investigates alternative sources for items that have been depleted in coordination with the specialty team leaders and Supply Chain Management.
  • Participates in specialty area relevant workgroups. Assists department or specialty area leadership with achieving operational goals.
Qualifications
  • Required Associate's Degree or equivalent preferably in business, operations, nursing or other related healthcare area.
  • Four years of related experience. Preferred
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
