RSG is looking for experienced candidates to perform a wide range of analytical activities in support of our transportation planning and modeling practices, with a specific focus on the application of large geospatial datasets. RSG seeks an Analyst who will help produce high-quality, meaningful planning documents, visualizations, and policies based on good data and sound analysis. Your work will involve a stimulating combination of policy savvy, stakeholder engagement, and quantitative analysis. You will help apply Big Data analyses and travel model outputs to complex challenges and integrate data-driven solutions into results. You will help craft deliverables that affect people where they live in the form of travel behavior studies, long-range transport plans, corridor or project study findings, freight plans, climate change mitigation/GHG reduction plans, investment prioritization strategies, feasibility studies, and more. Support a variety of data collection activities (e.g., traffic, transit, land use, safety, system performance, etc.) for analysis and visualization; and help narrate the story that these data tell within a transportation framework including strengths, limitations, and potential biases in the data.
Support a variety of research activities (e.g., assessing applicable federal, state, and local planning regulations; synthesizing information from prior planning documents; identifying the state of best practices for planning processes and supporting analytics)
Perform complex analysis using appropriate tools (e.g., Excel, GIS, R, Python, and associated tool libraries) in support of transport planning process and to answer transport policy questions.
Be able to learn and perform all stages of the travel model process, data management, analysis, implementation, estimation, calibration, validation, application, documentation, and training.
Help coordinate and facilitate stakeholder engagement activities under the direction of senior staff (stakeholders include clients, other RSG staff, client peers, and the general public).
Help onboard, mentor, and train new junior staff; enhance the organizational well-being of RSG by participating in and contributing to team meetings, company seminars, and other events.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in transportation, urban planning, GIS, statistics, data science, math, economics, psychology, geography, engineering, or a similarly relevant field of study
Experience with visual tools (Shiny, ArcGIS or QGIS, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
Demonstrated abilities with a broad range of analytic techniques and special analysis tools (e.g., Geospatial Information Systems (GIS), SQL, Python, R)
Preferred
Demonstrated writing ability with a portfolio of work appearing in adopted plans or similar deliverables. For recent graduates, this could take the form of capstone projects, independent research reports, or significant research-informed class writing assignments.
Delivered high-quality quantitative analytic products evidenced by a portfolio (Excel workbooks, Python, R, Java, etc.) that produced and visualized meaningful analytic findings. For recent graduates, these could be class or capstone assignments.
