You'll contribute to both quantitative and qualitative efforts-helping design and analyze surveys, conduct focus groups or interviews, and interpret findings to answer real-world questions about how people travel. Your work will directly support clients in making informed decisions about services, infrastructure, and policy. This is an ideal role for someone early in their career who is curious, detail-oriented, and passionate about improving transportation and transit systems through data and research. Mobility Market Research Analysts are broadly interested in transportation and social science research and enjoy working across a range of areas, including survey design, sampling plans, data analysis, technical reports, and data visualization. Analysts contribute to R-based analysis tools and help improve processes through automation. As strong writers and communicators, Analysts contribute to written reports, develop components of technical memoranda and assist with both informal and formal (client-facing) presentations and other communications. - Works as part of project teams supporting a variety of projects.
- Assists project teams with project design, documentation, and task delivery.
- Supports research projects (e.g., address-based surveys, focus groups, intercept surveys) across North America.
- Assists with survey and sampling design, data collection, and deliverables (e.g., reports, presentations, datasets).
- Coordinates among project members during survey fielding (e.g., maintaining schedules, monitoring survey recruitment rates, flagging data collection issues).
- Assists with fieldwork by overseeing surveyors onsite during data collection efforts.
- Contributes to technical projects such as statistical analysis, survey weighting, and multi-script data processing "pipelines."
- Coordinates with subcontractors (e.g., printers, field site managers, sample providers, survey outreach partners).
- Builds domain knowledge in transportation, survey methods, statistics, and social science.
- With guidance and oversight from supervisor, supports senior staff in applying identified analytical tools and conducting data analysis.
- Organizes and processes data sets in preparation for data analysis using appropriate tools (e.g. R, Python, SQL, Excel, SPSS).
- Grows technical capabilities in R programming, data visualization, version control, and databases.
- Assists with qualitative research including organizing and attending focus groups, in-depth interviews or community discussions.
- Contributes to a positive, collaborative work culture.
Education, Experience, and Skills
- 0-3 years of experience
- Bachelor's degree in transportation, math, statistics, geography, social sciences, or a similarly relevant field of study
- Interest in market research and/or travel behavior
- Strong analytic, quantitative and problem-solving skills
- Extremely organized, detail-oriented, resourceful, and flexible
- Demonstrated ability to deliver work on a timeline
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated aptitude in a broad range of analytic techniques using statistical packages (R, SPSS, Excel)
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and on a team
- Ability to follow directions, standards, and guidelines
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Experience in or desire to learn research methods and/or behavioral modeling
Physical Demands
- Requires periodic travel
- Frequently involves standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Operates a computer and other office equipment, such as a calculator, copy machine, or computer printer.
- Frequently communicates with colleagues and clients. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Ability to uphold the stress of traveling.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment or materials up to 25lbs.
