Job Description: The Sr. Data Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, WI will apply engineering best practices to analyze, design, develop, deploy, and support software solutions. Develop software using continuous Deployment and integration practices. Participate in an Agile implementation and maintenance of source control and release procedures. Utilize Python, Apache Spark, SQL, and Apache Airflow. Work with Agile methodologies, DevOps environment, deployment practices, and CI/CD pipelines. Participate in Code Reviews and feedback to the team. Contribute to a collaborative work environment. Identify data quality issues and their root causes. Propose fixes and design data audits using Data Quality and Data Concepts. Work with ELT/ETL, Replication, Event Streaming, and Virtualization to support batch and real-time data needs. Create, test, and deploy scalable data pipelines using modern tech stack to extract, transform and load data from various platforms. Perform proof of concept and research to explore methods for creating new data pipelines from novel data sources and data types. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week. Salary $110,739- $208,520 per year. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or related field plus 3 years of experience as a data engineer or in a related occupation. Experience must include 3 years with each of the following: (1) software engineering, debugging, analysis, and software documentation in the field of data engineering, ETL development, and data warehousing; (2) Python, Apache Spark, SQL, and Apache Airflow; (3) Agile methodologies, DevOps environment, deployment practices, and CI/CD pipelines; (4) R-DBMS Database structures, theories, principles, and practices; (5) Data Quality and Data Concepts; (6) ELT/ETL, Replication, Event Streaming, and Virtualization to support batch and real-time data needs; and (7) Shell scripting and FTP/SFTP file handling process.
