Maersk Ground Freight (MGF) offers transportation services like FTL (Full Truckload), LTL (Less Than Truckload), brokerage, cross-border trucking, groupage, and sortation hubs, connecting Maersk or Customer warehouses or depots or cross-dock/consolidation/deconsolidation facilities through a robust network led by best-in-class operations and technology. This integrated network will service multi-channels like B2B, B2C, B2B2C, e-commerce, direct to store, dropship, returns, and more, leveraging asset-based, asset-light, and non-asset models.

Summary:

The Senior Operations Portfolio Manager leads large scale initiatives, investments, and serves as the main point of contact for MGF operations for shared services functions for NAM MGF group. Develops and implements cost saving measures, new technology, and changes to the operating model. Serves as the conduit and gatekeeper to operations personnel to ensure the frontline can focus on delivering for our customers and any new initiatives are properly vetted and introduced to best serve the frontline operations team. Serve as a strategic advisor to the Regional Head of MGF representing his or her seat at the table for key meetings.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Investment Proposals (Strategic Investments in Real Estate, Technology, Process Improvements, etc.)
  • Liaison for Procurement, HSSE, Commercial, on Major Initiatives and Operational Impact.
  • Operational Finance Initiatives including cost savings opportunities in labor, fuel, T&E, and other categories.
  • Peak Planning & Execution.
  • Project Management of Key Initiatives.
  • Financial Education/Ownership Mentality of Station Managers.
  • Implement best practices: Drive standardization and adoption of best practices across all LTL operations within the division.
  • Develop key processes and mechanism for Ops to interact with other key partners at scale in NAM.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure compliance: Adhere to all relevant regulations and safety standards related to LTL operations.
  • Promote safety culture: Foster a strong safety culture within the division, prioritizing the well-being of employees and the security of cargo.

Accountable for:

  • Development of investment proposals and overall site strategies with supporting functions (network & analysis, finance, etc.)
  • Ensuring Operations is well informed and prepared for large-scale rollouts of initiatives from supporting functions (HSSE, Finance, Real Estate, etc.)
  • Operations successfully manages through peak season without carrying over unnecessary costs.

Travel Requirements:

  • Primary 'home' office site is remote
  • Travel frequency is variable and project dependent around 20% throughout the year

  • Ability to influence stakeholders, both internal and external, to achieve our business objectives.
  • Strong prioritization and delegation skills.
  • Ability to build a strong Integrator narrative supporting the journey to create seamless cargo management solutions across modes of transport.
  • Drive customer centricity and strike the right balance between a quality strategy in a low margin environment.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university is preferred
  • Five (5) years of industry related experience in transportation or LTL.

Pay Range:

$180,000-$190,000

*The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
