Job Overview

The Senior Manager, Procurement will play a critical role in supporting Macy's strategic priorities by enhancing procurement processes, driving cost efficiencies, and fostering supplier relationships. This position will focus on core procurement category manager roles and responsibilities, including supplier and sourcing strategy, business partnering, and supplier relationship management. The role involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with Macy's goals of delivering "A Bold New Chapter" and driving results.

In addition, the Senior Manager, Procurement will work closely with the business to build strategic partnerships with suppliers, Carriers, 3PL's, and internal stakeholders. This includes identifying and developing key supplier relationships, implementing performance metrics, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to ensure that Macy's remains at the forefront of industry trends and best practices. Leading the Request for Proposal (RFP) process and conducting thorough analyses; and ensuring the integrity of rates across all transportation modes.

The Senior Manager, Procurement will be responsible for all commercial agreements, sourcing and supplier relationship management for Macy's Transportation and Parcel spend in collaboration with the Supply Chain Organization.

What You Will Do



  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives focused on Transportation, Small Parcel, 3PL, and Distribution categories to optimize procurement processes and drive cost savings.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders-including Technology, Finance, Supply Chain, and Digital-to ensure alignment with Macy's strategic priorities and workforce extension goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with supplier partners, solution providers, and industry thought leaders to ensure high-quality, reliable, and cost-effective parcel and marketplace supply chain solutions.
  • Analyze procurement data to identify trends, uncover opportunities, and highlight areas for improvement. Provide actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Continuously assess and enhance procurement processes to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and business value.
  • Support business partners in resolving parcel and supply chain challenges by developing and implementing mitigation plans.
  • Establish and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure supplier performance aligns with Macy's standards and expectations.
  • Prepare and deliver reports that summarize procurement performance, highlighting key metrics, outcomes, and accomplishments across parcel and supply chain categories.
  • Foster a culture of acceptance, respect, and authentic connection with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • Develop innovative, customer-centric delivery strategies and solutions to enhance the end-to-end shopping experience.
  • Define a phased approach to advancing Macy's delivery agility and capabilities in response to evolving customer expectations.
  • Proactively challenge the status quo and identify opportunities to transform current supply chain solutions and processes.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.

Skills You Will Need

Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Expertise: Proficient in crafting and executing strategic sourcing initiatives, with a focus on parcel and logistics categories, to streamline processes and achieve cost efficiencies.

Parcel & Transportation Knowledge & Experience: Extensive expertise in parcel services (UPS/FedEx), Full Truckload (FTL), Less Than Truckload (LTL), Intermodal (IMD), White Glove/Home Delivery, and Ocean transportation. Skilled in managing various service types, including DC-to-DC, Vendor Inbound, and DC-to-Store, available in both Dedicated and One-Way formats.

Supplier & Stakeholder Management: Adept at building and managing supplier relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness while collaborating with internal stakeholders to align procurement strategies with business goals.

Analytical & Financial Acumen: Proficient in analyzing procurement data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement, with a strong understanding of financial accounting principles and cost optimization strategies.

Problem Solving & Change Management: Expertise in route cause analysis and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, able to drive resolution management and continuously improving workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Performance Management: Skilled in developing and managing KPIs and SLAs to ensure supplier services meet performance expectations and business objectives.

Reasoning Ability: Must be able to work independently. Provide strategic direction and leadership to a team of professionals.

Communication & Presentation Skills: Strong ability to communicate procurement strategies and insights effectively to senior leadership, facilitate meetings, and prepare reports that highlight key metrics and achievements. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization

Other Skills: Proven track record of working cross-functionally with focus on merchandising, vendors, customers, stores and finance. Strong change management skills. Ability to develop insightful, value-added and actionable analyses.

Who You Are



  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
  • 5+ years of experience in operational procurement environment or 5 years procurement consulting plus 2 years operational procurement. Previous experience in managing parcel and/or logistics-related categories.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
  • Able to travel domestically 2-3 times per year to visit suppliers, attend conferences, and support internal company locations.
