Bilingual Content Spec (English/Spanish) Grant Funded Seeking a fluent Spanish and English communicator with the ability to speak, write, translate from English to Spanish and vice versa, for this newly created role. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the nation's leading advocacy organization for children's healthcare, is seeking a collaborative team member to create, craft, and write engaging and compelling content in both Spanish and English for AAP HealthyChildren.org Espanol, social media accounts, video scripts, and other materials in support of the AAP vaccine confidence campaign. Reporting to the Managing Editor, HealthyChildren.org, some duties include:
- Develop and translate new and revised content. Edit, proofread, and ensure externally translated content adheres to website style guidelines, is culturally relevant, is presented at appropriate reading and literacy levels, and contains links to Spanish information. Ensure content is evidence-based and messaging aligns with overall campaign and other AAP resources and initiatives.
- Write content for newsletters and other electronic communications for registered users and other constituents of HealthyChildren.org Espanol, as needed.
- Collaborate with AAP creative production team on the development of Spanish language public service announcements, video scripts, media requests, and infographics.
- Draft and/or translate social media posts for various channels, using data to understand audience interests. Create, edit and/or translate content for graphics for use on social channels as needed.
- Identify and work with the HealthyChildren.org Espanol authors and technical reviewers to approve new and updated content, route materials, and incorporate changes into manuscripts and drafts of new content as directed.
- Monitor site traffic using appropriate analytics and tools and generate reports as needed on overall site traffic as well as content-specific or sponsored site traffic.
- Attend team meetings and contribute to discussions on content development to support campaign strategies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications needed:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English, Spanish, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience required.
- At least two years' related experience writing, editing, and translating content in Spanish for digital media platforms required, including web pages, social media, and video scripts, preferably with an emphasis on consumer health information and/or patient education. Experience working with content management systems and technologies and collaborating with authors and medical professionals strongly preferred.
- Must be able to fluently speak and write in Spanish and English and translate from English to Spanish and vice versa. Excellent writing, organizational, communication, diplomacy, and interpersonal skills required. Strong technical acumen essential with proficiency in MS Office, knowledge of social media platforms, and the ability to learn and apply new technologies; experience with content management systems, document collaborations platforms (eg, SharePoint), and virtual meeting platforms (eg, WebEx, Teams). Must be able to think creatively, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, take initiative, pay close attention to detail, work both independently and as part of a team, effectively collaborate with various internal and external constituents, and contribute to fostering an inclusive culture where everyone feels valued and respected. Familiarity with medical terminology preferred. Some travel and evening/weekend work required.
A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $61,650.94 - $65,076.18. Compensation decisions take into account a wide range of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications, geographic location, business needs, and organizational policies. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer.
