TITLE:

Social Media Content Creator (Grant-funded)

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

Manager, Social Media Strategy

BASIC FUNCTION:

Strategize, create, and edit compelling content for American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) social media accounts and support the development and implementation of social media campaign strategies to improve vaccine confidence.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Conceptualize, craft, and write engaging and compelling content for social media handles across multiple platforms in support of the AAP vaccine confidence campaign. Ensure content is evidence-based and messaging aligns with overall campaign and other AAP resources and initiatives.

2. Utilize images, videos, and interactive media to enhance messaging and capture the interest of various audiences. Use design programs such as Canva and video editing platforms to create graphics and edit videos.

3. Collaborate with supervisor and other leadership to determine content creation priority and strategy. Recommend content strategies to increase engagement and reach.

4. Leverage proactive and reactive social media opportunities to advance accurate vaccine information.

5. Maintain brand voice and tone across all social media platforms.

6. Engage with pediatrician influencers and other external validators and influencers to expand outreach and support communications priorities.

7. Stay current with social media trends, algorithms, and best practices and recommend opportunities for enhancement to social media activities.

8. Analyze performance metrics to gauge content effectiveness and optimize future posts.

9. Utilize SEO best practices to increase content visibility and engagement.

10. Assist with monitoring social media conversations relevant to vaccines and collaborate with supervisor and other social media staff on effective and timely responses.

11. Establish and manage a content schedule to plan and ensure consistent posting across platforms.

12. Oversee the work of external vendors on content development, ensuring alignment with AAP campaign goals and social media best practices.

13. Attend team meetings and contribute to discussions on social media campaign strategies.

14. Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, digital marketing, or related discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience required.

EXPERIENCE:

At least three years' related experience creating social media content required, including writing content with an emphasis on health care or advocacy, preferably related to immunizations. Experience with the development, execution, and analysis of social media content; use of tools and platforms to track and assess social media efficacy; and basic experience creating visuals in Canva required, as well as knowledge of current best practices for social media driven crises. Experience with basic video editing and working in a public relations firm or non-profit medical association a plus.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

Must be an exceptional writer with strong attention to detail and the ability to draft clear, concise, and compelling social media content for various audiences and translate medical/scientific information into understandable lay language. Strong technical acumen essential with proficiency in MS Office, mastery of core social media platforms, basic familiarity with Canva, and the ability to learn and apply new and trending technology platforms; experience with video editing tools, document collaboration sites (eg, SharePoint) and virtual meeting platforms (eg, WebEx Teams) preferred. Must be a creative, strategic thinker able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, respond quickly to time-sensitive matters, take initiative, work both independently and as part of a team, collaborative effectively with various internal and external constituents, and contribute to fostering an inclusive culture where everyone feels valued and respected. Excellent project management, organizational, diplomacy, interpersonal, analytical, and critical thinking skills required. Some travel and evening/weekend work required, along with the need for flexibility in arranging work schedule to accommodate physicians' availability.

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $79,866.53 - $84,303.70. Compensation decisions take into account a wide range of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications, geographic location, business needs, and organizational policies. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer.
