* Performs day-to-day clinical work to include reading and interpreting prescriptions, computing dosages, mixing and counting medications * Evaluate patient compliance with medications, patient's response to medications, signs and symptoms for control. * Processes, prepares, and dispenses medications to patients. * Interprets prescription and dispenses products described with required accuracy in dosage and identification of therapeutic incompatibilities to avoid serious injury or death to the patients * Prior to dispensing, calls the physician's attention to any questionable over dosage or incompatibilities. * Assures proper attention to labeling needs, including specifying directions for use and precautions as necessary. * Counsel's patients on drug therapy, proper use, actions, precautions, side effects, contraindications, and storage of their medications. * Reviews patient medication profiles for safety, logic and effectiveness of drug therapy. * Maintains necessary legal records on control items and other prescription products. * Maintains necessary records as required by Federal Laws, Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), Joint Commission, Medicare-Medicaid and IHS. * May be called upon to assist in emergency situations. * Involved in coordinating pharmacy activities with other health center activities * Other duties as assigned |
