Summary:

The Engineering Documentation Specialist will be working in the Engineering & Construction (E&C) Project Compliance and Documentation Group. The Specialist will be working with E&C Engineers, Project Managers, and project teams to ensure project documentation is verifiable, traceable, and complete in the Company's Document Management System. The Specialist will work with other department Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and assist in training E&C Project Managers, Construction Managers, and Office Managers on applicable documentation/records and the use of the Construction Document Management System. The Specialist will also perform quality audits during construction to verify that required technical and engineering documentation/records are properly completed and collected per the Company Engineering Standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Provide training to E&C Project Managers, Construction Managers, and Office personnel responsible for project documentation/records on the use of the Company's Construction Project Document Management System.
  • Perform internal audits during construction projects to verify that required technical and engineering records are properly collected and uploaded to the Construction Document Management System per Company Engineering Standards and state/federal regulations, where applicable. Records must be verifiable, traceable, and complete.
  • Provide guidance to project teams with procedural and record-keeping issues.
  • Assist E&C Project Compliance Group in maintaining the Company's Engineering Standard for Project Documentation and other forms and guidelines used during construction of Company facilities.
  • Assist with the continuous improvement of the Company's Construction Project Management System.

Requirements: Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 2-5 years of industry-related experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent assignments
  • Must be detail-oriented with good organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate and assist in the resolution of issues in a professional manner
  • Must be able to interface effectively with all levels of internal and external personnel
  • Must have thorough knowledge of pipeline and/or pipeline facility construction and appropriate engineering records including inspection, redline drawings, welding records, coating records, survey data, as-built drawings
  • Must be familiar with all applicable DOT regulations for Gas and Liquid Pipelines
  • Must have strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and web-based applications via a mobile device.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • College degree or technical training in CAD, process piping design or related field preferred
  • Industry certification such as AWS-CWI, NACE certified inspector preferred.
  • Knowledge of ARC-GIS database or equivalent is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic pipeline survey principles is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Materials or Documentation Coordinator on pipeline projects is preferred


Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.



  • Must be able to travel up to 25%; overnight travel may be required.
  • Usually, normal office working conditions. When traveling hours may differ slightly.
  • Must be able to remain stationary 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Must be able to work effectively away from traditional office environment (hotel, airports, conference rooms, mobile offices etc.)
